Hi. I just want to know if someone managed to edit the icons in the GameMenu ?
Maybe someone who knows some hex.. or is this impossible ?
Also.. When do you think we can edit the Soft Reset & Brightness icons like the Game, Media & Slot-2 icons ?
So that they're just on the background.. Or just delete the icons.
Why can't we edit it ? I don't think it needs to be pre-made in the GUI.. the other icons work.
Maybe the R4 team is working on it right now..
It would be really cool if there weren't any pre-installed graphics and we could even change the Game-Icon possition and stuff.

Well.. Maybe we need to plough trough the .DAT file ourself ! Or.. is it stored somewhere else ?

The Soft Reset and Brightness Icon..

Sorry for the double post, BUT ! Chism created a decryption program for the R4(/M3) kernel !
Now we can edit the brightness, soft reset icons, change the text... !
You can check this topic on GBADev for the 'program'.
I'm now editing the brightness and soft reset icons in TileMolester..

It's relatively new. chishm only released it a day or two ago. I don't see why anybody would want to change the icons. They're there to explain their function. If you put a smiley face on the soft reset icon; nobody's going to know what the fuck it is (unless you have used an R4/M3 before

but don't assume everybody has)

But it's nice for skinners or other graphic designers (like me.. I make my own skins)
+ You can delete the text like (Boot Slot-2) wich is also good for skins..

... maybe ask on gbadev. Seems to be command line based tho so maybe you need some parameters

Noo.. You don't need to execute the file !

Go to Start - Run , cmd and hit OK go to the folder where the .exe and your .bat are..
First go to your homedirectory with 'cd\' and then use 'cd foldername' to go to your folders.. for example: cd Desktop
(For long foldernames you can do this too: cd Desk*)
Ones you're in the folder use these commands to de- and encrypt:
- Decrypt: r4crypt.exe -d _DS_MENU.DAT OUTPUT.DAT
- Encrypt: r4crypt.exe -e OUTPUT.DAT _DS_MENU.DAT
HEX-Edit the OUTPUT.DAT file or use TileMolester for the pictures..

This tool is _AMAZING_. I encrypted the FlashME binary to _DS_MENU.DAT and it worked perfectly (booted with FlashME v8's recovery mode). Also, DSOrganize can now be used as a bootloader and since de-encrypted _DS_MENU.DAT is just a .NDS binary, you can still keep it on the card.

Hats off to you chishm, you never fail to amaze us.

Best thing I can get with Tile Molester is this:

Looks a bit squished and interlaced at times. Fiddling around with the options didn't seem to solve it.

/edit: after some adjusting height/width and pasting together bits I ripped the original soft reset and brightness icons

I've had success with getting the default images edited (thanks to this thread), but there's one thing that's still missing: A custom load bar color.

Any ideas about how to change the default blue from the bar to a custom color? I'd like to be able to change the color of the titles of games too, but I'm not sure how to edit that stuff.

I never knew what the fuck it was until I saw it posted on the forums a few months after I got my R4.

hahaha, exactly the same with me. and i was getting pissed at how the soft-reset sometimes worked and sometimes didnt. maybe if it changed from happy face to sad face it would be hilarious

but it sure wouldnt help anyone

I'm not really sure, but I think that R4 Injector can do that. I haven't used it in a long time, so it's just what I think.

You can also use r4 injektor to change all the icons, without the hassle of tilemolster. You can edit the soft reset icon, the brightness icon, and lots more. Get it here.
