Do I need to import a Japanese copy of DGS to play this on my 3ds? Follow-up question, is the 3DS region-locked? I'm in Australia, which has the PAL region.

Since this project will most likely have a NTR/HANS file to run on the game, it would most likely work on any 3DS consoles that can run CFW that have NTR CFW installed or any 3DS that can run homebrew.
Theres also the possibilty of it having a CIA installer like how the FE If translations had it.

We haven't decided on the way we'll release it yet. But our release will require the original game on your end because our group does not support piracy. Don't discuss ways of pirating this game in this thread.

Please support CAPCOM even if they didn't localize this game.

Cool. I'll be in Japan in September, so I could pick up a cheap copy there. And I should be able to figure out homebrew. Hopefully.

So I do not have to mod my 3DS or anything like that? I rather just import it from Japan and download your patch somehow, that seems the easy way to do things.

Just got into the Ace Attorney series. Absolutely loving it and absolutely bummed they didn't localize it. Makes me want to snap their back fat. Anywho... By Episodic release... Did you guys mean you were going to release it one "turnabout" episode at a time?.. Just curious how long this translating project has been going on for, and if a long time, if I've missed a download link somewhere on the main page for the first episode.

Currently playing AAI1 but my appetite is only getting bigger!!

EDIT: Completely off topic for the translation, but on topic for the Ace Attorney games.. Could someone PLEASE tell me what's up with Maya and now this flight attendant having pure white mouth expressions? Like when Maya was surprised her mouth would be in an O, but it would be completely white, looking like an egg. With this flight attendant in AAI1, she has a white smile. Like, not a white row of teeth. Just pure white smile like :D. Is that just bad animating!? Or is it a japanese thing?

Sorry we've been quiet for a bit. We got Dual Destinies font working in-game! Looks great.

This looks amazing!! :D

I really wish to thank you guys for all the effort you are putting into this. It's since DGS came out that I've been waiting for an official translation/localization, but it never happened.
But now we, non-japanese speakers, could get a chance to actually play this game and that's awesome. Keep it up! :yay3ds:

I suggest trying to use PLvsPW font if you're actually trying to fit 3 rows in it, but I doubt that's necessary given most mainline did fine with 2.
But that already looks MUCH better than the in-game font. congrats.

Oh, can't you use another font? At least wait and use AA6's sharper font. EDIT: Somehow it doesn't look as washed out as in DD though, but it's still too techy and modern, I think.
I'm pretty sure a chunk of this game's engine is a tweaked version of PLvPWAA anyway; can't you implement that game's font as well?
Otherwise, isn't there an english version of DGS's font with normal spacing?

It's not that easy. Making the DD font work is already a very dirty hack. If the AA6 font works and looks better, we might switch, but right now, this is the best option. It's not finished, though. I thought it was a little early to show people yet, as I'm not done with it.

We understand.

In case you're going to tweak the spacing btw, it almost looks like there could be 3 lines of text with that font-size.

I know, I'm running tests, but as I said, my RE skills are not that great. It's not certain it will fit 3 lines without being to cramped, but there are other options as well. I'll update you guys once I'm finished and the team agrees on which solution we go with.

I would really apreciate if you people, insert the special characters for other languages, because that would make easier the translation to they.

I think that the font from the crossover with Layton would be fine, it uses all the characters like ñ or áéíóú.
