Also check out that article that another user linked me to a few pages back. From the sounds of it developing for the WiiU at launch (and possibly even now) was far worse than any struggles 3rd party developers had with the PS3. ....
I remember reading that and it makes even more sense now. Nintendo basically wanted another Wii, no mater how hard they had to underpower the Wii U. That also explains why the Gamepad doesn't have analog triggers (something introduced by themselves on the GC) , Nintendo wasn't interested nor expecting that any company would develop such type of games for the console.
In other worlds, it was basically another attempt to bait the casuals. :glare:

Ahhhh, the drama, the chaos, the impatience... Never change, GBAtemp, never change...

I hope you all eventually realize that I never gave any specific dates for a release. Instead, I kept manifesting my intentions on releasing something on a meaningful date (Christmas was the original goal, for instance) and failed consecutively to deliver because I do have a life (not a particularly easy one either).
Nonetheless, I kept the only actual promise I made, which was to report progress and document as much as possible. I even went the extra mile and threw the remaining keys away as proof.

Anyway, my goal with announcing this before even showing any proof was to spark interest in the Wii U again, and I succeeded to a satisfactory extent. Not only that, but people in general became more cautious with updating their consoles, which is a great bonus.

Everything is advancing at a great pace, I'm porting my exploit to a few key firmware versions and documenting relevant information. Homebrew ideas are being brainstormed and for the first time since the Wii U's launch, I believe it will be possible to raise a decent "scene" before it falls drastically into oblivion after the NX comes out.

What I don't understand is why people get mad when things get delayed. You do realize that I'm burning down an exploit just for everyone to enjoy homebrew on their consoles, right?
Not only that, but releasing the exploit alone won't give you anything at all. For that reason, several developers are working on different aspects of the console before it gets out in the wild and that takes variable amounts of time.

At first, my original intention was to just drop the exploit and let people do the rest, but now I don't think that's going to work. What do I mean with all this? Stop worrying so much about it. The latest firmware (5.5.1) is vulnerable, just enjoy your console in the meantime and when it's out, it's out.

In sum, I don't care if 99% of you end up hating me because the exploit is not being released when you want it to be, nor do I care if you all blame me for starting a massive hype all around and then not delivering when I was supposed to. I know there's still 1% of people around that understand what we (developers) are doing and that everyone will eventually get the chance to explore their systems in the way that's supposed to be, safe and fun. Those people don't care if the exploit is released on February, March, 2017, 2120 or whatever, because they understand we know what we're doing.

Also, mind you, time is the only factor here. Everyone seems to be so eager to disprove or contradict what I'm doing that you all end up fighting about my posts, trying to figure out what I meant exactly.

Thank you for your valuable post. Was a good read and status update. Keep on keepin on. Cheers mate.

Translation: You're all idiots, and I didn't promise anything

Yeah, in general.

Because of your...'promises' ;)

Straight from the horse's mouth, now everyone can shut up with the "should i update" threads.

Gaiz, I think I found a secret code hidden in this post that reveals the true rele- Wait. At least one person is going to think I'm telling the truth.
Waste of space here^

Keep it up Hykem! Don't let the whiners get to you. As stated, there is a small percentage of people who actually understand the reasons behind why this takes time, and are more than happy to wait. Unfortunately that other 99% is way more vocal, and dare I say borderline stalker? But thanks for the update! Hopefully (but doubtfully) this will keep some of the complainers quiet (but probably not).

This is the part most people should be paying attention to. The exploit is worth nothing without good development happening behind the scenes, and I'm glad you're trying to pull everyone together so you can deliver a package that means more than "lol I took over IOSU and now I can't do anything else." The documentation means other people won't have to hack away with the new playground, only to brick their console while attempting to develop.

It's also appreciated that this has pulled up more actual discussion on what we could do with full access, as a lot of good ideas (Far away from this thread), have come out.

Keep up the good work. I've been reading your wiki edits, and while I don't fully understand machine level stuff, the knowledge added is sure to be helpful to people who are good at things.

Nope, it didn't work out he said.
That's a shame.. Is there a quote for that by any chance?
Last I recall if he gave up with investigating it he was going to release what he had. So I assumed no news was good news.
Damn shame I missed it if what you say is true! :(

Hykem we all really appreciate the hard work. Unfortunately people will always be whipped up into a frenzy when there isnt much communication especially when they are advised not to update their consoles out of fear of missing out on such a great exploit. It's really hard to expect people not to be impatient under these circumstances. Like it or not but you have stirred up a very large world wide community whom are only asking for a little more communication as well as a time frame so they all can make an educated decision on what to do about their own hardware.

I don't know if I'll be alive in 2120 but I will try I guess...

@Hykem you say for everyone to update to 5.5.1. So why bother doing work for 5.3.2? @zecoxao said 5.3.2 is the only one needing work according to you. Since it is needless work why not release 5.5+ since its done?
