Yeah, in Japan. I haven't seen them in stores here in europe yet. Nor do I think the games are avaiable in the USA either.
I believe the poll was made for games that got out in 2015 everywhere, not just Japan.
So, yeah, I guess if you guys wanna vote for those game, you'll have to wait for next year's poll.

It makes me very happy to see that games on Nintendo consoles are getting a lot of support(despite Nintendo generally getting beaten up by the gaming community) . On another note I'm surprised that steins gate has that many votes. I was thinking it would be closer to like 6 votes. It's definitely my favorite this year though.

No, I voted for Witcher 3, but Fallout would be an acceptable option.

You voted for Fallout? Fine. Metal Gear? Great option too. Witcher? Also a really fine option. Mario Maker? Really? That's far from a GOTY, and it's not much different than playing romhacks, it's like a Little Big Planet but without a story mode, without the character customization and many more, but I'll tolerate. Splatoon? Are you fucking kidding me? The game is bland, it's servers suck and it doesn't even have option to use a microfone, this is one of the games that show how Ninty is a decade behind everybody and should be ashamed of it, and you should be even more ashamed for your vote. I bet if this game wasn't made by Nintendo no one would give a fuck about it.

I bet the ones that voted Mario Maker and Splatoon haven't played any of the other games I mentioned.

Honnestly, if it wasn't made by nintendo, it would have been much better.

I would like splatoon more if you could have local multi-player online play, and local 4-player action. I'm guessing the hardware was incapable of it, which is a bit sad. Hard to have mario-kart or smash-bros style tournaments without it.

I suspect it would have been dull, shades of brown, overly serious, and traditional post-apocalyptic. But it totally would have had voice chat that you muted after a few minutes because pre-teens that are trying out their vocal chords and basic language skills.

Not specifically, but the arguments you made are not things that are universally disliked. And some feel the fact they had loads of fun while playing the game(s) overcome any of the negatives. And some of your negatives, other people find to be positives. Thus why they voted for it. It's fine that you have the opinion that you have, the other games you listed are fun games too, but please understand that it is still an opinion.

This site is so biased that a poll like that is a utter joke.
It's like last year and this year when people voted Nintendo for the best E3 conference before it started.
Those two last conferences were the worst E3 conferences of their respective years, still I bet that next year the majority of GBATemp will be voting Nintendo as the best E3 conference just to be let down again.

Tell me, what's the positive side of Super Mario Maker not having a story mode?
Tell me, what's the positive side of Splatoon not having a decent server?
I didn't even say but there are some other clearly negative points to Splatoon as you said.

The point isn't about opinion, it's about critical analyses, it's not about liking it or not, it's about what it offers,
and what it's lacking. If you don't believe let's just wait some review sites post their GOTY and see if Mario Maker or Splatoon get into any of these, because I clearly doubt

I feel like people are missing the point. This is a round 1 to narrow down the list and craft a smaller list for the final votes on GOTY. I mean... It's in the title.

There will be a new list very soon of most of the top contenders that we will do a round 2 for, and thn and most likely a final round.

I get it I'm just saying as I primary it seems to me like one vote per user would be a better way to lower it down.
