I don't know if you're aware, but anyone with an account is able to edit the wiki, like so (I don't have push access to the normal repo): https://github.com/mashers/3ds_hb_menu/wiki/Home-FAQ/_history

just making sure

Yeah, the point of the second repo is for pull requests, comments, issues, etc for the wiki itself. @mashers can update both wikis at the same time with one command, so it's quite easy to manage. The point was so that we don't have random people editing the wiki (decline a pull request) and have all of the features of a normal repo. @mashers can read and write to https://github.com/RedInquisitive/3DS-Homebrew-Menu-Wiki/issues so he can accept pull requests himself, too.

anyone with an account is able to edit the wiki
This is what I was worried about .

I don't know if my logic makes any amount of sense but that is why it was set up that way.

EDIT: Hey, @ihaveamac, would putting the changelog in the wiki be better?

the reason I made it a "CHANGELOG.md" is purely because I've seen multiple repositories on GitHub do the same (look up "github changelog.md"?). if you want to put it in the wiki then that's fine. the wiki itself is like a git repo itself as well.

It is! But you can't specifically do pull requests/comments/issues/etc and manage it like a normal repository. (That reason is how they both update at the same time)

Good point. I can see that.

whichever you or mashers want. if you decide to put it in the wiki then take the contents of the pull request and put it there (or I can do it).
If it's in the wiki, there might be less conflicts with rollbacks/merging (IDK though, I probably made that up). But I'll leave that up to you. If you move it, just open a pull request in the repo wiki and I'll merge it.

@RedHat

Sorry to interrupt your chat here

You were advising me the other night on how to setup the grid launher, it was very simple as is working great, so a big thanks for the tips you gave me to get up and running

I have one question if that's ok... I am using the recent HBL cia in emunand (payload 2.5), it works well for me 10/10 on the loading and the grid layout is working fine also, on previous HBL i was unable to see the games and apps that i had loaded (pressing the House button in the bottom left corner), when i try loading any game or for example Devmenu or similar app they simply black screen

Is this something i am doing wrong OR are these not supposed to run from the Grid Loader anyway ??

I can see your busy in discussion here, so no rush in replying

Thanks again, Pete

actually I would leave this up to you. to be honest, your system doesn't make sense (to me at least), considering I was able to edit a page directly; even if I shouldn't I still don't get why there needs to be two places for it. if this is wrong then please clarify.

you can easily get the contents here: https://gist.github.com/ihaveamac/4264da03d6d932e52c1f

Hmm , I don't know about the compatibility with the homebrew CIA build. Both mashers and I don't have kernalhax to try it out and debug that problem, but if someone else wants to jump in and help, that would be great!
For now, just run your apps through the home-menu or hans (if its a game).

Thank you !

The original problem I saw was that anyone can edit it (which clearly is still on, and probably needs to be turned off) so the solution was make one repository that people can fork and edit like a totally normal repo (You can still even do it in the browser, if you want) and the changes could be reviewed by @mashers first, then merged to the wiki (again, one command, so it's quite simple to do). If there is an issue, someone can open one, or if someone is confused with a change, they comment on it.

That was the only logic I had. It's simple for @mashers to push to both repositories at the same time (so it's not like it's a hassle using both) but if people don't like the way it's set up it can totally be changed.

EDIT: @ihaveamac, Are you going to open a pull request on the wiki? You converted the whole change-log to .md, so that's a lot of credit that I would be taking if I just committed it, haha. I'll go ahead and do it if you want, just say so and I will (or won't :)).

seeing that this edit has made its way into your repo, I guess it makes sense now.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

https://github.com/RedInquisitive/3DS-Homebrew-Menu-Wiki really needs some organization though. are folders seriously not possible?

actually after some testing they are possible, but seem to be completely invisible on the wiki.

It sounds like it's running the programs in a way that isn't compatible with the .cias. I typically just run my .cias from the home menu, but being able to run them through the grid launcher would definitely be handy.

I'm not sure if that means that it's using HANS, r4, or if neither will work. I'll fiddle around with them to see if I get the same issue(and a workaround).

Yeah, wikis really hate folders for some reason. That's kinda why I had some form of naming convention going but it kinda got cluttered with all of the (awesome) images in the repo

Thank you so much.

I would try putting them into folders anyway, but keeping their existing names (so you'd see like "Themes/Themes-Water.md") so they're still compatible with the wiki. if you want I can do that and make another pull request for it.

In the very beginning I tried that but it exploded really bad (it just said unknown link (name) and went to the create a page tab). I'll try it again on my own personal fork, though. If it works, it would help soo much.

EDIT: If you would like to give it a shot, go ahead!

@Arseface_TM

Thanks mate for picking up an interest in my issue, it seems you fully understand where i am coming from

Hopefully a workaround can be found, i will keep watching the thread with interest, and as always thanks for the explanation
