in the tutorial it says

Download FBI.cia

1. Boot up your 3DS
Open your 3DS internet Browser and go to http://launch.rxtools.net/
Hold R when the splashscreen pops up to get into the menu.

2. Go to Other Options -> Install FBI over Health&Safety App. It will say an error ocurred; don't worry, that's normal.

3. Take note of the console region and the TMD version, and turn off your 3DS.

4. Open the rxtools download and open the "fbi_injection/[region]/[version]" folder and copy the "fbi_inject.app" and "fbi_inject.tmd" files to the SD card root dir.

I don't get the version or region... I get this error:\

------------------------------------------
FBI Installation
------------------------------------------
Opening SecureInfo_A..Error
Trying with SecureInfo_B....Error
Process failed!

@kisamesama Do you have the two FBI Injection files on your SD card?

Like it says, in the download to Rxtools 2.6, the files you need should be in this directory:

zip:/release/FBI Injection/USA/1046/(The two files here, copy them to the root of your SD card)

1046 is an example, you may need a different one. You can't fail if one doesn't work though, simply use another one.

Just as a side check, do you have firmware.bin, and slot2xkey.bin (If lower than 9.0) on the root of your SD card?

it's normal.
Exiting the settings application always reboots the consoles, so it exits and reset any memory hacks and patches the consoles has. You are back to a clean version of the menu.

That's also why you should be very careful if you want to update your emuNAND. If you want to update, NEVER exit the settings. open the settings, and go to update. if you exit, it will reboot and you will update your sysNAND, losing softmod capability.
before updating your EmuNAND, ask here to be sure you are using the proper method for your version. don't just assume randomly found tutorial is good.

Palantine CFW is one of the first and old CFW released. there are a lot of different CFWs, you don't "install them with Rx", they are different softmods.
rxTool is more recent and can do more things than palantine.
I think the most recent CFW are : rxTool, Cake CFW, ReiNAND and NTR v3
others are older, even if still functional on their respective required system version.

The DS profile is the "MSET" method.
There's also the "SPIDER" method (browser codename on o3ds is spider), by scanning QR code, but you need to be online.
and finally, there's the homebrew method : launch the homebrew browser using ninjhax/youtubehax/ironhax, and select rxTool in the homebrew list.

I don't think it can be launched from an installed cia application.
I was away from the rxTool thread for the past month, so maybe I'm outdated.

ninjhax require online, I don't know about youtube and ironfall but I suppose they are using the same method. it's only a different application used to trigger the exploit, and launch the homebrew browser.

To launch the homebrew browser, it depend which game or app you have access:
First, copy this file to the root of your SD card.
https://t.co/j2S2i49gyk (it's latest boot.3dsx for ninjhax2, I don't know if it works with ninjhax1, but you'll find needed files on links below)

then if you have Cubic Ninja cartridge (or ROM if using a flashcart)
Ninjax on 4.x-9.2 3DS : Cubic Ninja : http://smealum.net/ninjhax/
Ninjax 2 on 9.x 3DS only : http://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/

I don't know how to use Ironhax or Youtubehax.

The only Offline method is going to Settings>DS settings.

it shouldn't brick as long as you don't install a system file (browser, flashcart blacklist, firmware, etc.)
be sure your console is powered enough when you install anything, so it doesn't have battery issue.
I've read it needs 15min/GB, so be patient if you install big games.

you need a 3DS flashcart, as you need to launch Cubic Ninja.
but if your R4 3DS is compatible with your current 3DS version (4.1-4.5), then yes you can use it.

once you have installed ninjhax with online access, you don't need online access anymore.
just boot cubic ninja and go to the QR code menu to launch the Homebrew browser. (no QR code to scan anymore, it will crash the game and reboot to the homebrew)

But to me, it looks even longer than using the MSET method.

MSET rxTool :
settings > other > NDS settings > rxTool

Homebrew rxTool with a ROM :
settings > Other > NDS settings > R4i Gold 3DS > Cubic Ninja ROM > QR code menu > Homebrew browser > RxTool

you wanted a more simple solution, not a longer one.
Your current method is the best one.
