Hacking How to apply Hori Screen Protectors

Hei everybody, my hori screen protectors for the ds lite arrived today... And.... as I ordered them from play-asia... they come with chinese instructions... And... I don't know chinese =|
So... I can't understand the instructions

I got two screen protectors, they are both different, I don't know wich goes to wich screen

Can anybody help me?

Pull apart bottom from top layer, stick bottom layer on screen, rub out bubbles, pull out top layer (there's 3 layers, another layer on top of the layer you stick on), and voila.

Make sure you apply the screen protector in a dust free environment.

1. Go to the bathroom
2. Take a hot shower for 10 minutes
3. Get dressed
4. Go back to the bathroom
5. Apply the screen protector on the DS

Volia! You got a perfect dust free screen protector on your DS

Works for me all the time

Note that the size of the screen protector is different, so it's quite easy to tell them apart.

My experience:

Carefully apply top filter. Notice 3 bubbles have somehow appeared. Grrr. Carefully apply bottom filter. Somehow some dust magically appeared under the bottom filter. Spent next 10 minutes trying to remove both filters with pieces of selotape. Cleaned screens. Reapplied both filters. Now have twice as many bubbles. Spent another 10 minutes removing both filters. Placed them in the nearest bin. Never looked back

Ok... thanks for both advices, too bad it all went wrong =| I went trough the same experience neekstan did xI Top filter it's already in the trash.. bottom filter is on the ds... doesn't look good =| But it's not that bad either.. I think I'll keep it just to prevent some scratches on the ds...

You know, I'm still holding on to my protector. Haven't got around to applying it cos I thought the touch screen would be less sensitive afterwards.

Any thoughts?

Don't wait to put these things on. They're brilliant.

Here's my instructions.

1. Make sure you're in a very well-lit place.
2. Clean both screens with cloth provided and follow up with the use of an air compressor.
3. Check screens for any dust particles that may have settled.
4. Check screens again for any dust particles that may have settled.
5. Check screens one last time for any dust particles that may have settled.
6. Apply protectors to each display. Now, the trick with these protectors is that you don't need to do anything. They do in fact just adhere to your system's screen with minimal effort from yourself. I guess just making sure they're aligned correctly is the biggest problem you'll face (and keeping dust off your screens).
7. Lastly, use the cloth provided to work out any bubbles to the sides of each protector. This should take care of any inevitable little bubbles that may pop up.

Disclaimer: I went through three different packets of these screen protectors before I got it right. I'm no hero.

With the Hori product, the two screen protectors are actually different densities? The more rigid piece is meant for the top screen, while the more flexible piece if for the bottom. the instructions have pictures, and are Japanese, not Chinese

I've had mine "installed" since march 2006 when I got the ds lite, and have had no problems and they are still very clear. I've some some other solutions that have scuffed up after use.

What went wrong? Too many bubbles? You can always lift the screen protector with a piece of Scotch Magic Tape to get rid of the bubbles. Just be careful so you don't bend the protector too much. Scotch Magic Tape is also great for getting rid of dust. Don't use normal tape, since it could ruin the touch screen.

Ok, I bought some new screen protectors instead of hori I bought this ones:

I advise anyone who wants some screen protection for the ds to go for this ones instead of the hori, I got spectacular results with this ones

This is the way to go. I have applied 4 in the last year (3 DS Lites, 1 PSP), and not one dust bubble. The steam gets rid of any dust that might be floating around. You can be have the cleanest house in the world, there is still tiny dust/skin/whatever particles floating around, and thats what causes those bubbles. Run the shower for 5 minutes with the bathroom door closed, open the bathroom up to let the steam dissapate a bit, just enough so that your screens dont steam up, and then quickly apply the Hori's.

I dont know about those other ones, but the Horis are amazing. I've had mine on for 6+ months now, and not one scuff or mark on either screen. They are incredibly tough and don't give you that rainbowy effect you get with cheap ones.

I buy one Hori DS Lite Screen Protector from GameYeeeah 4 about weeks ago,
I think the point to apply the protector is aviod the dust and the air bubble.
My method is:
1. Get another 3 things ready: tampon, card(a little piece of paper card or something else),
and water(clean water, pure water is good).
2. Clean the dust on the screen with the paper come with, then drop a little water to the center of the screen.
3. Now apply the protector on the water softly (remmber do not press it now), then knead the protector softly, untill the water spread around.
4. Use the card shave the water from the center, now the water will be shaved out, use the tampon to clean so they will not filter into the DS. At the same time you will find that the bubble will also be clean. Repeat many time, after a few second, you will see the protector stick to the screen perfectly.

I did the same to my PSP, perfect.

O.o Does it REALLY have to be a tampon? Can't it be something more pleasant... like a paper towel?

LOL! I guess it's good since tampon is like really clean and all. But I guess Brawn works well too

Oh one advice: If you see some air bubbles that are too hard to clear off, just leave it there. For me, they magically dissappears the next day

Heh, I just applied mine and the bottom one went on well. However the top one has a lot of dust in the corner which refuses to come off, even when I use tape.
