that gui KICKS ASS!

I'm sure the GUI on the R4 can be redone in future updates, but i'm not so sure that the R4 team will actually go that far.

When the review of the R4 came out and i read that one of the cons is the outdated/boring gui or whatever i wasn't at all convinced. but now it's like moving from Windows 95 to Windows Vista!

then again, you spend like 20 secs in the gui, what matters the most is what you spend hours playing with... games!

True. And I can't see what much more the GUI for R4 would be able to do. I mean, it already does everything automatically. Saves are done automatically, you don't need to set card speed. Other than aesthetics, it really wouldn't serve much of a purpose. And unless they make a whole "OS" kinda thing (like moonshell) I don't see why anyone would spend more than 20 seconds in it

how does he have phantom hourglass already...doesnt it come out in December.

Oh yeah, that purple Link looks reeeeeally official...
lmao, yeah. Let's all keep in mind that these are just GUI designs done in an image editor. There's no guarantee they will look as clean and crisp in the real thing as they do now. ;o

If they let some source for the R4 GUI out then yeah it can easily look like that if your willing to do a little work. I'm doubtful that the R4 team will be doing that anytime soon though.

However the network settings not sure thats easy to do i don't know if anyone has figured out how to alter the firmware settings....least i haven't seen it..

Apparently the artist designs the entire GUI, then the team is left to code for all the buttons, tabs, etc. That one looks ridiculously complex, but if they can do it, go for it.

That one looks ridiculously complex,..
My thoughts exactly.

I am happy with the current GUI and must ask why some are so desperate to change, or rather "jazz up" their GUI which does it's job perfectly.

Sure, I'm not denying that prototype system looks very stylish but what would you prefer?.... a super stylish, wonderful GUI that looks the business but drains extra power and takes longer to load. Or a simple, cut down GUI (like we have), allowing you to load what you want fast and easily with minimal fuss?

At the end of the day, the GUI only serves as a middle ground to select the rom to play, to load moonshell, or initialise slot 2.... not to leave running for people to gawk at!

Im not saying we need to change it im just saying if it can be done then why not??
Personally a better GUI will make the R4 a better, more attractive and a more professional looking Flash kit

(I personally dislike the simple GUI when i know better can be achieved
