about this; I believe the way they have it set up now is that; if you don't have the same version as the person you're trying to connect to it won't let you go to that world. But as long as you both have the same version ex: You have 1.0.0 and your friend has 1.0.0 . You should be able to connect to them perfectly fine.

Yeah, AFAIK 3ds games with online multiplayer often require mandatory updates when there is one. As for version specific MP, I've only seen this happen on PC

Unless they find a gamebreaking bug, I doubt there will be a necessary patch that everyone will have to download.
By the way, I've read that if you purchase DLC, you will be unable to play with people who did not purchase the DLC.
I believe that is the point of the "same version" warning that you get.

Guys, when you're playing fantasy life. Could you open a multiplayer portal? I saw two people playing and none of them opened a portal so I couldn't join.
