Xenoblade is not exclusive because of controls, it's exclusive because the new 3DS has slightly better hardware.
It's flat out not playable on older 3DS models, regardless of the add on.
The DSi had its own games (one about facial expressions, one about monsters and...that's it). They still sucked, but it had.
I'm way too attached to my old 3DS to get another one. I hope Xenoblade will be the first AND last to be "new 3DS" exclusive.
And I feel that second analog stick will be very unpleasant to touch.
The Exclusive games does seem like a trick to get people to buy a New handheld but system upgrades are always welcome especially when they try to improve in some way......

Hum... I might actually get one of the New 3DS models (I hate the XL one cause it's too big).
And personally, I find that not having a second circle pad at all and having that tiny one, are pretty much the same thing.

Although I didn't see the demo of a swap-able shell. if it did have one with black and white together, instead of buying the shell separately in another package, I'd be on board for buying one....
Also, the timing is right for the additional sctick (!) since R.E. Revelations (& R.E. Mercenaries) just went on sale from Crapcom here in the West... and I'm sure eventually elsewhere.... That means no circle pad Pro.. (or even amateur)...

RSE "expanded the game formula" in more ways. Abilities are huge, double battles are the preferred mode for official championships,
I still don't get it.
RSE had abilities, double battles, contests, secret bases etc.. every gen adds features and game mechanics.
I understand that there was big post-game, but it was rushed and incomplete (also due to size limit. which was done properly for HGSS), but that only made the main-game way too shrot and easy (which stayed that way in the remakes..). I mean Lances pokemon lost like 10 levels.
The battle frontier of emerald alone was better post-game than all of it in GSC.

RSE had shit AI until the Elite 4, shit music, shit overworld, and shit Pokemon. Double battles are useless and only helped bring forth further dumb modes like triple battles and rotation battles.
In the direct Iwata compared the buttons to the SNES's pad ones and the second analog stick to the Cube's pad C-stick. I think he hinted us that on this new 3ds we'll have a new virtual console supporting snes and gamecube games
Exchange rates and European prices will raise the costs of the new 3DS more than you think. The 3DS XL costs about £107 in Japan, while the same console costs £169 in Europe (Amazon.co.jp vs Amazon.co.uk).
Alas, I'll be waiting to see if anything worthwhile comes along. If the New 3DS is indeed a completely new console, it's going to need some sales boost (also a new name if the console is indeed called "New 3DS/LL"). Good to go with a normal 3DS and an XL at the moment
Man... You are comparing companies trying to compete with one another with their consoles and exclusives. Nintendo is just competing with themselves
