Hi All,

I’ve been running emuNAND ever since my release-date Wii’s internal SSD crashed, to avoid losing all of my DLC, saves, etc. I’ve been using UNEEK+DI r150 and JoYFlow for years (yes old, but up until now stable as a rock!), with a 320GB USB2 HDD. Original Wii hacked via Smash. EmuNAND is 4.3U, same serial as my real Wii, and NAND is based off of a dump for several months before my Wii NAND completely crashed (and then the emuNAND has been used for about 3 years, with no issues). It’s set to load via SD bootmii options. All of my purchased VC/WW/DLC have worked on emuNAND just like on the real one in the past.

Anyway, I’ve not been playing my Wii much in the past several months. When I have, it’s worked fine including yesterday. But now I’m getting ready for a karaoke party tomorrow and RB3 with my DLC is just not working at all. It will freeze upon “refreshing content”, after loading a profile but before loading DLC, on the song list, and in games. So far, with several hours of trying, I’ve been able to complete 1 song once without a crash somewhere along the way… All other games, even those with DLC, seem to work just fine.

What boggles my mind is that this set up has been stable for years! Nothing’s changed on the HDD or SD. I used to be able to play RB3 for hours on end with friends, with only a rare crash here or there. I assume something has corrupted on my emuNAND.

I don’t really know what to start deleting to fix it, and I’ve tried using ModMII to make a newer UNEEK+DI or Neek2o NAND, and none even seem to work with my Wii. It either crashes on loading System Menu or crashes on loading a game (disc or backup). Starting with an absolutely clean NAND still doesn’t seem to work. It fails when trying to rip a disc via WiiFllow, PostLoader, etc. The disc drive doesn’t sound very happy (lots of extra vibration versus the last time I used it years ago) either.

Maybe the new emuNANDs are having issue due to my real NAND having numerous bad blocks and corruption? Or maybe my Wii and the HDD have just succumbed to the ravages of time? Windows and Mac disc utilities don’t show any errors on the HDD. I’ve tried mirroring the contents exactly to a newer, larger 1TB USB2 HDD (formatted as FAT32 with 32k blocks), and with the same SD inserted the Wii refuses to boot (black screen for about 5 min, then pulsing blue activity light).

Any help at all would be appreciated, as the party is already planned for tomorrow!!

And as an update, more has gone wrong. When I was making new SD files and USB NANDS via ModMii, I moved my working SD and USB NAND into a folders called “Backup” on their respective drives. I also made copies on my computer.

Going back to either of those (originals in the “Backup” folder or the computer backups), JoYFlow no longer works! The splash screen loads and that’s it. No buzzing, no reset, no error codes. Just “no signal” on my TV, and the Wii light stays green. This was working without any changes, yesterday!

UNEEK+DI still works to load games by hitting “1”, then selecting the backup, and then running via the Disc Channel. But some games seem to have errors when launched that way versus with JoYFlow. So now I have even more to fix. Any ideas out there?

It looks like I might be dumping my real NAND, using tools to build a brand new one to dump on there, and start this entire process all over again. I had to do something kind of similar back in 2011, when it seemed like USB Loader GX 2 caused some screw ups, and man was it a pain….

I should also add that Rock Band 3, with ticket and title deleted, still crashes after 1 song at best. Deleting the save game file brings back the “corrupt save file. Overwrite or continue without saving?” loop that can only be solved by bringing over a working save game or playing without saving. Even with a totally initial install, no save game, and no DLC, it crashes on the playlist or more often after one song. I’ve yet to be able to play more than one song with any setup.

It boggles my mind how everything can go wrong with nothing being changed on the HDD or SD.

Well, as an update for anyone who comes across this thread due to a similar issue: Somehow everything worked for the one night I needed it to, by restoring (again) from the same backups I had before. Turning off “Auto-save” in RB3 allowed the game to run for about 4 hours continuously. Yay!

And then I turned everything off, brought it all home, connected it back up, and now my UNEEK install is completely hosed. Won’t boot past the “Press A” initial warning screen. I’ve tried restoring every backup of the USB and SD card I have, and none work. The internal (corrupted NAND) still works. If I make a completely fresh UNEEK+DI install via ModMii using neek2o, it will boot of the USB drive, but it fails to dump any games, fails to load any games, and generally just doesn’t work at all. Same result using UNEEK+DI (non-neek2o) and ModMii.

Using a different SD card and different USB HDD results in the same issues.

So it looks like I’m left with a Wii running off corrupt internal NAND for as long as it can… Which based on past experience is a few weeks at best. :-(

Any advice on what to do to try and getting a working UNEEK+DI setup would be great! Otherwise I may use ohneswanzenegger to create a clean NAND and redo everything. That worked for me years ago when I had a similar issue.
