Has anyone found a sure fire way of getting around this fragmentation error in multironm menu?. It seems to be an issue I have emailed GW about it see what they say but I thought I had solved the issue once and for all but it reared its ugly head again today several times and its getting quite annoying now. I have tested my card out and its legit, its an 8GB San-Disc so its real. Apart from defraging the drive and copying all files at once not chopping and changing is there another way? I carn't see having to put all files on at once when you just want to change one game is necessary I mean that could really become frustrating in the end to do all the time. Some good help would be nice. Thanks :)

Have you tried using a different usb reader? Or placing your reader in a different usb port? I remember when my old lappy had one dodgy usb port & gave me headaches trying to load DS games until I used another one.

"Flash memory is really cheap. So cheap, in fact, that it’s too good to be true. In reality, all flash memory is riddled with defects — without exception. The illusion of a contiguous, reliable storage media is crafted through sophisticated error correction and bad block management functions"

"with every fabrication process shrink, memory becomes cheaper but more unreliable"

"Even the diminutive microSD card contains not one, but at least two chips — a controller, and at least one flash chip"

So yeah. There you go. Sandisk could be falling behind on their MCU component leading to the mSD cards stop working in more cases.

Hi,

I recently purchased a gateway. Prior to 2.1 I noticed that savefiles needed to be backed up and stored on the sd card via home> x+a. Now, that multi-rom is supported I follow these same steps and do not worry about what is on the internal savedata for the microsd?

Yea they did but it's resolved as of 15 minutes ago. New layout is suave. Now if only they could re-upload the video on the products tab.

Actually I found that video on regular YouTube. You just need to google gateway 3DS and it should find it.

I downloaded that video just in case it gets shut down.

Btw, on a seperate note, is there a certain brand of microSD that the gateway doesn't like? I have some amazon reward points I can use, so I am going to order from there.

Regarding playing eshop roms. Would it be possible to load a dumped eshop game with the gateway cartridge in the 3ds and then remove it and put it into another 3ds to use it to load another eshop dump?

I guess I'm not sure if the eshop roms are supposed to run from the gateway or the sd card.

eshop roms runs from the GW card as a 3ds file.

However the tools for you to make such said eshop dumps are not available.

How long does a NAND backup usually take for you guys. It took my 3ds over an hour to back up. The NAND file is about 1GB.

Which reminds me. Do I only need the NAND file as a backup or do I need other files just in case I want to restore my NAND?

You probably had a very very very slow sd card.

Just keep the nand.bin file.

Probably, I am using a micro-SD with an adapter as the original SD cards don't have enough free space ATM.

To clarify. mSD cards with adapters do not affect speed. Its the actual card itself that affects the speeds.

Thanks, favorited the link for further reading.

So yep, those microSD cards are actually getting way unreliable, but hell, nobody is going to size up back to miniSD cards (however I wanted some new ones to use on my EzFlash IV)

Actually the saves are still stored on 3DS SD Card slot, not the microSD one ate red gateway card, but the save is updated when the game runs its save routine, so no need to exit the game before turning the 3DS off (i.e. no need to home > x and a)

Also, when my GF tried run my dump of Bravely Default we found that while we didn't saved the game when running it for first time, the 3DS would lock when exiting the game. After the first save ever, it could exit without locking the console.

Turns out I have a class 10 8GB card from Patriot. It should have been a little quicker from what you're saying. Copying the 1GB NAND from the card to my PC took only a few seconds.
