What claims were proven fake?
Gateway said:First of all, we want to reinsure you that all Gateway users will receive full support. We care about our customers.
Exceptionally, the tone of this normally standard support request email might be a bit harsh because of the abuse claims made by clone producer staff pretending of bricks, which were proven to be just part of their marketing plan to make customers believe we also have issues with console bricking. To be clear, we already had dozen of claims which just were proven to be fake. Unfortunately this cost us time away from doing what we do best, bringing you constant updates to make your Gateway experience better and better.
We still answer every single request to be sure no genuine Gateway user is left out.
If your console is bricked, and you only used the files we provided on our website, then it is almost certain this is not related to Gateway, but we will gladly help you to thank you for your support and purchase. We mean it was probably just an accidental bricking, like it happens sometimes for mainstream Nintendo 3DS users or any device in fact who do not user any accessoryt. But we will fix it for you, gladly.
We will send you back your console repaired - most of the case - or a brand new console.
As you can imagine, we can read any Nintendo 3Ds like a book. If you send us a console that was bricked any other way - most likely using a clone product (MT card, 3DS Link, R4i 3DS etc.) - we will instantly see it, and you will be required a $100 shipping and handling fee to return your bricked console.
***
IMPORTANT: ALL returns must include your Nintendo 3DS, GATEWAY RED CARD and your SD CARD. Any incomplete return will be handled as above, with a $100 shipping and handling fee to return the console & accessories.
***
To send us your console, Gateway and SD card, please contact your vendor, and email us the tracking number and vendor's name. We will handle the rest.
Again, we want to apologize for the harsh terms of this email. We normally provide friendly and quick support. But the clone team is a very organized mafia which uses dozens of fake Gateway users to pretend their problem are theirs. We hate to make it complex for you, but their actions force us to act this way to find the right balance between proper support and still being able to work on updates to keep Gateway moving forward.
Thanks for your understanding! Again, we stand by you, and look forward to much more to come from us. First being sending you back your console good as new!
Which claims were proven fake?
But if it is true that Gateway put in this kill code, then they must be pretty furious about the clones. There aren't an infinite number of 4.x units out there and every bricked unit is one less customer. Even if someone bought a competing product, that person is still a potential future customer.
The idea that even a few thousand or 20,000 bricked r4i user's 3DS would cut into future Gateways sales doesn't add up.
That is small potatoes.
What people should remember is Gateway knows what they are doing and buying a crappy card from r4i is risky.
Risky today and risky forever.
There are only two good options:
(1) Buy a Gateway
(2) Don't buy a 3DS card.
If anyone thinks that this "brick code" is bad for Gateway business ..... they are kidding themselves.
You just explained why it is: Invest $80 and risk losing $200 console or instead invest $300 in legit copies and resell them for $200.
->Man 100 dollar shipping...thats crazy lol.
Better not fake that GW bricked your console, your better off using that money to find a new 4.5 system.
BTW,
Im curious, does the 2.01b update work with the latest system update(from nintendo 7.0.2), i know e-shop and miiverse doesnt work, but does everything else (i.e: street passing)
I feel like downgraded to 2.01b for the time being, as i have no reason to be on 2.02b anyway. all i want is to be able to use Homerelay for street passing.
You can update to 7.1.0 with 2.0b2, then put Launcher.dat 2.0b1
It will boot the EmuNAND without problem, and you will have all the reported bugs from here:
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/3DS_hacking_faq#Known_bugs
To resume:
If you use 2.0b1 with EmuNAND 7.x, you can only launch games from the same region (ROM or Cartridge)
huh ?You just explained why it is: Invest $80 and risk losing $200 console
huh ?
There is little to no risk in a Gateway card.
There is plenty of risk with any other card.

Based on what data exactly? A number of people have already reported blue-screen bricks with their gateway cards. How long has the firmware been out? A matter of days.
If it works like people claim then every time you use you are increasing your chances of a brick. While the probability might be fairly low for a brick in any given use, over a period of years the risk could be extremely significant.
Let us say the probability of a console being bricked by a random bad read or memory corruption is 1:10 000 per use. Let us say that there are 10,000 gateway users and they will use the bricking function 1000 times. Based on a binomial probability distribution, you can expect that about 1 in 10 of them (or about 1000 users) will have their consoles bricked.
Now, obviously the numbers themselves are not accurate, but the point is, even if the probability of you having your console bricked in the next month is very low, over the lifetime of your 3DS the probability could be relatively high. Without knowing the details of how the code works, you cannot know the risk.
Your post made the most damn sense in explaining why even Gateway's own customers are going to eventually be screwed over by the bricking code. The probability of you getting a bricked console is going to raise exponentially the longer you use your Gateway, and will probably result in a lot more noticeable amount of bricks 6 months to 1 year from now, assuming Gateway doesn't remove or alter the brick code in the 2.0 update.
yes it is and it looks good, and a little food for thought, if the gw team can decrypt the nadd ... then whats's stopping them from decrypting user info /passwords/ credit-card numbers and sending it back to there servers (maybe a custom street-pass server) and with this stunt , i could see itGlad I'm not the only one who realizes that. Also, is that Megaman Legends 3 as your avatar? It looks awesome! What are your thoughts on the Might No. 9 game?
I'm no calculus expert (that class sucked almost as much as probability class), so I assume you're correct. Although I can't find anything on "geometric slopes" with Bing.Actually, it will rise geometrically. The probability of being bricked in any given instance is the same regardless of how long you have had the card, but the number of users who will have their consoles bricked will increase geometrically with time.
no i just don't deal with shady S#!Tno they are not you don't understand whats going on your going by rumors and just bad intel
I doubt that they could pull this off considering that it would require decrypting information in real-time and sending it so a secret server. I'm not saying that they wouldn't do it, it's just that I think that it's out of their ability at the moment.yes it is and it looks good, and a little food for thought, if the gw team can decrypt the nadd ... then whats's stopping them from decrypting user info /passwords/ credit-card numbers and sending it back to there servers (maybe a custom street-pass server) and with this stunt , i could see it

i agree but ....BUT why not just have the 3ds that's doing it decrypt it first. I'm not trying to scare anyone ,just keep you-all on your toes and think things thru a little. lol (there's all-ready games that do similar things made by BIG-N )I doubt that they could pull this off considering that it would require decrypting information in real-time and sending it so a secret server. Now that I think about it, they might not even need to decrypt it, just send a dump with all the info to themselves and the encryption keys with it (assuming they could even do that secretly). Now people who actually send them their consoles are a completely different story, since they could easily access your info assuming it's stored on the 3DS and able to be decrypted.i agree but ....BUT why not just have the 3ds that's doing it decrypt it first. I remember that, good times with my Ti-84 and graphing paper. It is not a slope. It is a type of series. With binomial probability, it is pretty simple. Flip a fair coin 1 time, the probability of heads is 1/2 Flip it 2 times, the probability is 3/4. Flip it 3 times, the probability is 7/8. The formula is P=(1/2)^n (n,k) where (n,k)=n!/[k!(n-k)!].
The geometric progression is the coefficient of (1/2)^n.
The slope of the CDF is something like this:
(3ds thoughts) do do do doddo WiFi's on, street-pass on, i don't see anybody yet ... OHHH!!! look a open WiFi server nice, I'll just say hello, hi have you seen this person? no I'll pass on that offer... i think i should be going wait ,,, WHAT are you doing?!? no NO ....NNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!O!!!!!!!!!
