New Nintendo 3DS colors

Wheeeepeee new colours! I did not want a 3ds but now I definitly want to buy a white one wheeheee I'm a tool.

I remember the GBC had a ton of colors, sold a few truckloads rather quickly with pretty much no effort needed on anyone's part. And yet they're not doing this with the 3DS; only releasing a new color every couple of months. How is this going to get people to want one if the range of color choices isn't there? The E3 colors should have been launch colors, with the new colors following shortly. Also, Japan always has nice things. Case in point, OP post, and then that MGS collection :\

I was thinking of getting my brother a 3DS for Christmas (He's away at college and broke).

Maybe I'll get a white one, transfer all my stuff over and give him my Aqua Blue one.

If I can't transfer all my Streetpass stuff, it's not even worth it.

That panda 3DS looks classy. I would get it if I wasn't waiting for the inevitable second version of the 3DS.

A glimpse at the preceding comments should give you an answer: some people are weird enough to pay a device twice when a new colour is available. It is a common marketing strategy to release new colours months after the launch day and it surprisingly works.
Look at the number of comments too for all that color-related crappy news.

Looks like its Japan, Europe, and Australia only for now. If NOA was going to announce the new colors for North America wouldn't they have done it by now???

Just because they release stuff there later than japan and there are some japan exclusives.
That just means they like Japan the most.

I think it's the terrible exchange rate -- a strong yen against a weak dollar. They lose a bunch of money selling low-margin consoles here.

btw--two posts up is the awesome Zelda 3ds the US doesn't get.

Eh. The color of the console doesn't matter too much to me, so this isn't going to make the 3DS any more appealing.

If they really want to get more people onboard, then they should put away the paintbrush and keep focusing on the game library.

UPDATE: Pink 3ds will be re-released standalone as a Valentines promotion Feb. 10th in US (presumably it'll stay as a full time color).
