Was there something wrong with XFlak expressing his? Was it necessary to say he's paranoid/gullible when he has every reason to believe what he wrote? Did he mention you by name forcing you to "defend" yourself with a snide comment? I've been here for a couple years now and have seen your posts and contributions. Honestly, I think you're better than the comment you made. Maybe I'm wrong...

Guys, not this again, lets just say there were probably a few ppl reporting this file unsafe...
BTW, this file is also used by other apps AFAIK, so its not only ModMii that is getting hurt.

Guys, I am not reporting ModMii as unsafe. I just said that AVG showed it as a virus. It only made it so that I could not finish the file download of the files I needed.

In fact, if there is any kind of conspiracy, I would tend to believe that Nintendo may have contacted AVG to put ModMii on the virus list. It is not like ModMii would send up any warning flags at AVG. Someone led them to put it in their database.

it's a batch file that gets online and automatically downloads other software.

if you're running your antivirus in some kind of paranoid mode, it will naturally not like it. just use your brains, hard at times i know, and know what you're downloading. consider how many thousands of people have used this program without issue. then, consider your own, isolated incident. it's called a false positive, and it happens.

you're not getting this from some warez site, and xflak has been more than transparent throughout the development process. from what little i've seen of this incident, it's an utter lack of common sense from those doing the reporting, and a severe overreaction from the others.

I think I modded my Wii again correctly following the generated guide. However I couldn't do a NAND backup so I just skipped that and continued forward because for some reason, it wouldn't read my 1GB SD card even though the computer can read and write files to it just fine. Is the NAND backup required?

Also, is it possible to mod the Wii so I can play burnt games as well? All of my friends use the disc method and I'm the only one using the external hard drive method. This means that when people come over, I'll either have to rip the game and place it onto the external, or tell them to bring their Wii instead.

See, this is a sensible reaction rather than frothing at the mouth or making up theories accusing "haterz" of being out to sabotage the program. (Although it may be worth pointing out that XFlak most likely didn't compile all the programs included in modmii himself, so there's no guarantee it really is a false positive - now do you see why the source code should be accessible BEFORE running the program?)
If it were really possible to simply submit a program to some anti-virus website and label it "infected" just to get it put on a malware shitlist, companies would be doing it all the time to their competitor's products. As it is, this just shows how useless all the different malware/anti-virus products are - as soon as one of them catches wind of something that "may" be malicious they all jump on the bandwagon and do the same.

I merely pointed out my findings. I haven't updated my Wii in months because I have been working on a hack. I have not changed anything and it reported as a virus. I use batch files all the time and AVG is set up default.

Damn, I am trying to give feedback to the dev to give a heads up on a possible issue. I understand what is going on.
Wii hacking has changed in the last few months. I came on to ask an honest question, and to update my Wii.

Enough is enough, quit flaming people. Is this a help thread or not?

To be more specific about the virus warning, it seems not to be a ModMii issue but more of the supporting elements used by ModMii, which are coded and compiled by different authors. To clarify im no hater but a solid supporter of ModMii and this is the first virus warning ive had from it but as i know its just an FP as ive used it for quite a while.

Files named are:

patchIOS.exe
libWiiSharp.dll

Nothing to do with the batch script but the files them selves, obviously someone doesn't like how way ModMii has shot up the ranks and reported it as malicious imho

Norton does not report any issues when scanning the ModMii files.

Congrats man. Glad to see you back. This place hasn't been the same without your constant supervision.

(funny, that it ends up being me that is the first person he talks to when he lands back home. 'Goooooooo Team Your Mom')

It was generated by ModMii when you downloaded the files. It should be on your computer still. Mine opens in notepad. Yours will open in whatever word type program you use. You can select the option in ModMii again and say yes to the generate guide option. It is a read me type file.

It will not be on your Wii or SD card. How would you see it when you need it then? Remember you will be using various software on the Wii. It makes sense since your Wii will be occupied during software install. Print out the guide if need be and bring it to your Wii.
