Hacking Possible first 3DS homebrew or fake?

Edit out the ??????s in the original picture into a credible GBAtemp (don't bother with the icon to the left) and it's debunked.

Why? it could obviously have been an original screenshot from one of the hand full of full resolutions screenshots on the net (just like mine was).

The way you also posted two top screens made me think the top wasn't in photo viewer and actually a doctored photo of a legit activity log. I understand now.

Fake it is then.

One thing that leads me to believe he didn't photoshop his image - unless somebody came up with a decent reason in the replies I haven't read - is that the size of his photo is huge. It would require a fair amount of skill to hide any imperfections caused by image manipulation software in an image that big taken from that angle.
Yours only looks good because it is small. If that was the size of his image, it would look like an obvious shoop.
I instead think the question-mark-thing is a flashcart or something that he's managed to edit the game I.D. of somehow, and if I remember rightly, this idea was supported a few pages back.

No no no no no, Photoshoped the image before taking the photo. If you can display a custom image in the photo viewer, why would you then edit a photo after?
Edit the log screen as an image (very easy) then display that edited log screen in the photo channel, then take the photo.

There is no reason at all to edit the end photo.

i think it's obvious how this was done, but spinal just pretty much set it in stone that it's fake.

How did you get a clean image of the log screen? Or did you just take a pic of it with your camera?
This is something I'd pondered but I didn't think there was any way to 'screencap' the log screen

Yes but there's also a MYRIAD of ways that it could be legit.

There is really no way of proving this true or false. I have some experience in Photoshop, and I think it's very possible and not a very hard task to edit a picture of the screen with the activity log, same as editing out the icon in the corner of the screen and the 3D led. Photoshop CS5 has a content-aware fill and you can use blur and glow effects on the text. But it's also possible that they only wanted to display a picture of it as either a way of teasing people or just they're being lazy.

either way, I think that we shouldn't get our hopes up or brush off the possibility.

Innocent until proven guilty. Once you eliminate the impossible, there is only the truth. In other words, prove it's false before you declare it.

In this case, the burden of proof lies with the ones claiming it's an exploit/hack.
"They" have one image which could be faked given time and a little 'photoshop' skill and has been cropped conveniently above a screen that could easily show it was faked (the Photo page). More evidence is needed before it should be taken as true.

Innocent until proven guilty means "It's assumed the person did not do the crime until it's proven they did."
It's about whether the action happened.
So to take that for this means it's not assumed that the 3DS was hacked until it's proven that it was.
