Hardware DVD drives.

hi. i got another wii. i went to the database for the drives but i am so confused on which drive is actually able to read backups. i got the parts ive ordered and i dont want to put the laser on the drive that does not have backwards compatibility. also i have a wii with an LU3025XXXXXX drive and it has a D2E drive? also another one with a GMS on the chip? any help to really know what is what would be great

thanks i checked mine. all are D2 drives. another question. is there a better or more compatible D2 drive than the other? im talking about running backup games. im sure i have all kinds of D2 drives. i tested a d2c and it can read dvd- and +. the d2E cannot read or dunno why not but it can read a dvd movie on wiimc. the d2C cannot read the dvd or is laggy. used the same wii only swapped the drives

The only difference is that DMS drives have sometimes probles to read DVD DLs

To be fair, I've always found ALL wii drives ti be picky on dual layer. Some will do it, some just won't, seems to be laser dependant. Tested over years with many different brands of media on many different drives. Wii's are just fuss mothers when it comes to dual layer. Best way is to just avoid it
