I have a cell phone number that I'd like to find any possible information on -- I really could care less about most of it, I'm just curious if it's actually owned by an individual or an institution. Or if it's something like a Google Voice number. If you Google the phone number, there are the million websites that say "Sure, for $29.95 we can tell you everything!"

My question is -- can you actually lookup the owner information anywhere? Can any of those websites actually provide those details?

The issue is that a number is sending me lots of txt's, and there is no unsubscribe option. I believe it to be an institution and I'm constantly monitoring my cell bill for additional charges, but I want them to quit sending me messages. Without a full subpoena, which I doubt I'd be granted, I can't tell them to stop as it's supposedly an individual who has my number. How would I prove this out one way or the other?

all you can really do is go to 411.com and click "reverse phone", and insert the phone number there. unfortunately, its unlikely to tell you much, with it being a cellphone. Cellphones usually don't hold much public info, being something u can go to wal-mart and grab from a shelf Lol

Not on my POS cell phone and my service provider says they can't blacklist numbers ...
They just don't want to deal with it.

Complain and ask to speak to somebody higher up until it gets done.

If somebody refuses to let you speak to somebody higher up, ask them for their full name, write it down, and then call back. Repeat as needed.

When you do finally get to somebody higher up, make sure to present them with a list of names of who refused to transfer you.

Rydian obviously never worked in a callcenter before... do that and you'll achieve nothing, I can know cuz I worked in several callcenters for several companies and several services (tech sales cancellation billing etc)
The best thing you can do it make a written complaint, send it with proof of deliviry (dont know the name of it over there) and make sure you send a copy to whoever is the telecom watchdog and the police and also make sure its written in the letter that your sending this letter to those 3.

This will provide you with the best chances of something getting done. If nothing happens in 10 working days call your provider asking the, about it. If its not to your satisfaction ask to speak to the person in cahrge of it, although the chances are very slim that youll get to talk to teh actual person but you might get the right department. Ask them for information. If its still not satisfactory tell them they have 3 working days before you take official actions with the watchdog. They will most likely laugh in your face but its on tape so they cant butthurt you in the end

Take it up with the watchdog and the police. Take their responses and have anythign they promise you in ink. The watchdog should take care of the rest with your provider but it shouldnt go that far if yuo have a decent provider

Dont worry about threatening or yelling to the callcenter people, they dont give a fuck what you say or do theyll get paid either way lol
And asking for a higher placed person only works when you have a REALLY good provider and you happen to be in the actual homeoffice of your provider (chances are very slim at best) so you either get a response like "Sorry sir but I cant do that" or they transfer you to whomever was the idiot who was late and he has to pretend to be the boss and he will tell you to basicly piss off

Like I said, my own experiences in the callcenter world

Call center reps are only allowed to give their first name. They are neither obligated nor allowed to provide their full name unless they have done something illegal.

Also, at least a Supervisor is supposed to be on the call center floor at all times per federal mandate.

I have worked for a few myself so I hope this info helps.

Oh, and if it's based in India, disregard everything I just said. no rules apply to those godless heathens.
