Suddenly I have no desire to help gameguy95 ever again. I must remember NOT to ever give ANY help to that jerk again.
Apparantly, the jailbreak was not meant to work on ALL the older models and bootroms, but if it does, it will be a "nice side effect"

Posting an update regarding what we know, since quite a bit was revealed recently:
- SHAtter only affects A4 devices (iPad and later). (Since it doesn't work on, say, the iPod touch 3G, it is NOT Geohot's exploit.)
- SHAtter is tethered, and cannot be patched with a firmware update. (A4 devices are tethered for life.)
- Comex discovered another userland exploit that, in conjunction with SHAtter, means 3.2.2/4.1 will have an untethered jailbreak. This exploit can be patch in a future firmware update.
- Both of these exploits will be utilized by Chronic Dev's greenpois0n.

As a result, Chronic Dev is working on implementing geohot's exploit, which is compatible with devices SHAtter didn't cover ("MC" iPod touch 2G, new bootrom iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G). Chronic Dev reiterated that release time (10/10/10, 10:10:10 AM GMT) will not change. The plan has altered a bit though: if they can implement geohot's exploit, they'll use it. If not, they'll use SHAtter.
(P.S.- Geohot's bootrom exploit, like SHAtter, is tethered, but can be untethered with the help of another exploit.)
