Hi everyone. I have an idea. I just want to know if it is possible to create. Maybe you programmers out their can tell me so?

I was thinking of a homebrew application that can automatically do all the following:

Read all your save files for your friend codes and add them to a database.
Enter a chat room and trade friend codes with others.
Once the trade is initiated the application adds the new friend codes to your save file.
Be able to hit launch and load the game from your usb device.

Scenario
For example, I have Animal Crossing for the Wii
I enter the application and it detects my Animal Crossing Friend Code
It adds it to my database on my usb device.
I enter the chat room Lobby.
I choose Animal Crossing Chat Room.
I chat with people there and found someone who wants to trade codes.
I private message him. we both click on trade friend codes button.
The friend codes get traded and get added to my Animal Crossing Save File
Then we both hit launch to start the game and meet each other online. (Just like in wiiflow)

Maybe this would be great to add as a feature in wiiflow and the other usb loaders?

If this application can be created then it would make everyone's life easier.
People will save time by not having to input 60 something friend codes.
People will stop creating Friend Code Trading Topics.
And I am sure it will become very popular.

I think this should indeed be possible, by opening the data partition of the current disc to gain access to the save, and then extract the friend code from it. However, there needs to be someone willing (and more importantly, capable) to make it. There was a project along those lines started a while ago, but I don't think it got past the research phase (working out where friend codes were stored etc.). I'll try and find that research if I can...

EDIT: Here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/User:Supermario182...eManagerProject

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I would love to see this happen, Wii's online capabilities suck, something like this to improve them would be nice.

There are several problems with your idea. I'd be happy with any Wiibrew that can find my Friend Codes and save them to USB / Wiinertag. If it could add codes from the drive to the save, I'd be even happier.

Every Wii game uses a different save format. You need to find someone willing to decode them. Most people probably would only do the work for games they like - if you like an obscure game, sorry, nobody will help you.

The rest is more dream than legitimate app idea - a chatroom would bring about more problems than it is worth.

First: I may be wrong in some/many points here, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe we already have a small first problem here: I don't think the Codes are always stored at the exact Place, so someone would always have to search for the loaction an update the App. And I'm also not shure how easy it is to read/edit a Save (I guess it's pretty hard, there hasn't been much/none progress in decrypting saves, afaik).
It adds it to my database on my usb device.
I enter the chat room Lobby.
Uhh, Chat-Room. Big problem here, it would need Mods all day long, otherwise it will get spamed and abused. Shure, again possible, but a lot, lot of work and effort from the community needed...

That is probably also as hard to do as reading it...

Basic summary: You probably won't see this, it's seems like too much work, some may not even be possible (yet). We would all like to have something like that, but I guess we'll never have it. Just use Websites which were made for this, imo.

I see. So People have tried to do this already. Well it seems that the best solution now is to stick with websites. However, I only know one site that does this and it is not popular at all. The address is www.friendcodes.com

Anyone know of any other websites?
