Hi guys,

I have a minor request: I added a couple of custom sources for covers of which some have very slow transfer rates from time to time. Once I even started watching TV and returned to the wii after 45 minutes or so only to find the download still in progress
smile.gif

I had to hardreset the wii and remove the partially downloaded cover from my SD card.

It would be great, if cfg loader supported the cancellation of a running filetransfer - either skipping the source or file or cancelling the whole download progress including queued files.

While you can't cancel a file in progress, you can cancel the queue of files. Hold B and the image download process will stop as soon as it gets to the next image.

Making it cancel during the download process is a risky process as it risks further chance of file corruption. Thus, this is probably the way it will remain for the time being.

QUOTE(engine24 @ Aug 5 2010, 03:32 AM) i have one question
Is it possible to make cfg loader when you press on game to open game with animation like wii disc channel do.
It's possible, but it would require somebody to find a way to hook the code that the Wii Menu uses to display the animations or to totally rewrite the code themselves. It's not a trivial problem and it appears nobody in the scene has the time or inclination to work on it.

Well, whats more risky? CFG Loader cancelling a file that's being downloaded or pulling the plug (if unwilling to wait 3 hours for a download to complete

)?

I don't know how you write downloading files to the storage, but would it not be possible to download covers to a cache folder and copying only completed files to the covers directiory? You could then check and clean the cache folder upon startup or after the download queue is completed. I think the chance of corrupting files other than the one in question (which is useless if the download is cancelled anyway) is pretty slim.

Anyway, I removed the cover source in question and switched to downloading unavailable covers via PC and then transfering it, which probably is the best solution anyway.

I have CFG usb loader set to load directly from Priiloader. Is it possible to disable the intro screen or change it? I wanted to add a nice front end intro or disable it entirely.

Thanks,

TriggerX

I have a suggestion for that cover abort thing

Why dont you cache it in ram while downloading and write it to disk only after it finished.
A cover wich is to big to fit can simply be aborted, it would not display properly even if downloaded.
This would make it possible to implement manual and timeout aborts.

I've never had a problem myself. I'm not sure what kind of risk there is, but I can at least say that.

cfgLoader 58a
ciosX 250 (56)
HDD NTFS

Guitar Hero 5 (PAL) runs fine, with wanins and hermes v4 (37+38)
Guitar Hero 5 (NTSC) runs with hermes, but with wanins I get following message:

IOS (250)..[FRAG]...
Error: setting up fragments 0 7
ID mismatch: [SXEE52] []
after button: Error: SetWBFS: -1

Both games have been copied to HDD with same revision of cfgLoader some time ago, both have been ripped on correct WI
So NTSC on a NTSC Wii
Pal on a Pal Wii

Both work fine in Hermes, so what could be reason for the error with wanins new cios and the NTSC iso?

Strange problem, I'm sorry but I don't know why one game would work but the other not.
That's rev20 right? What happens if you use 249 slot? I suppose you have some other base ios there, but still i'd like to know if it ate least tries to run the game... or is the same error? What if you install with base 56 to some other slot like 248 or 247, (which bases do you have there?)

That error means that even though the IOS has been set up to emulate the DVD from a file, it doesn't return the right contents when a read is done. That's the final check before the game is run. So it looks like the problem is in the IOS side, it could as well be a problem in my frag code in the ios...

I've been using uloader for the last year and everything i have thrown at it seems to work with 222/223/224.

As uloader looks like it wont be updated in the future I have been trying cfg loader and installed cIOSx rev 20 249 - 56 and 250 - 37.

When I try to boot any game with either 249 or 250 it just hangs...if I use 222 or 223 then it boots fine.

Have tried ciosx rev 17, 19 and 20 and they all hang whatever game i try to boot

have tried version 57 and 58a of cfg loader

wii is 3.2E with cyclowiz

HDD has fat32 partition for mp3 and wbfs partition for games

Any ideas?

It's not the long file downloads that will cause corruption, it's the other ones that do work that could have issues. The file already is downloaded completely into memory before being moved out to an external file; that's not the issue. Adding checks to see if a button is pushed inside the download code adds delays and potential errors that could mess up the download of any file. It's similar issues to this that caused GX to fully corrupt NTFS hard drives.

No. If we can figure out the method to pass command line arguments using the new HBC (it is not well documented), then it is possible we could make the "nointro" option, which is available for the direct launch mode currently, work with other launchers. Note that this will only replace the intro screen with a black screen that takes exactly the same amount of time to go away.

We do, however, welcome submissions for new splash images from time to time. If you believe you could do a better job, then feel free to post it and we will consider adding it to future releases.

I have not heard of this happening to anyone since I enabled the code, so I have to say: No.

Hermes' IOS has always had slightly better drive compatibility than Wanin's. Try using the other version of the loader (e.g., 58a instead of 58a-222) as that sometimes helps. Also try installing a game to the FAT partition and see if IOS249 can read that partition OK. Otherwise, it is probably just an incompatibility with your drive. Do you have any other drives you could test?

Hello!
smile.gif

Just a quick question!
tongue.gif

If we only use the SD card (FAT) and only load games from .ISO and .WBFS files, and do not plan to use USB neither loading games from DVD-R backups, do we still need to have those custom cIOS installed or does Configurable USB Loader run fine without them?

You can't put .iso versions of games on a FAT partition (.wbfs are OK). You will need a cIOS installed to play games off the SD FAT partition. Wanin's has the best compatibility with FAT SD partitions, so I strongly suggest you install IOS249 rev 20 base 56.

Mmm.. so rev20 is only compatible with FAT from SD & USB wbfs HDD partitions and not USB FAT32?

No. I don't know how you managed to get to that conclusion?

So it works with rev20? Apologies as all the while I have been using hermes 222/223 & I had no idea that FAT32 now works...
