Unfortunately, the specs of the Pandora are going to be outdated very soon. Looking forward, these first generation devices won't last long as Linux handhelds.

Was interesting at first, but sadly now after all the wait it's become uninteresting. As the quote said, it will be outdated very quickly. Dingoo anyone?

Do you know some other Linux handheld with better specs ? Cuz' I'm interested. Just discovered the Pandora a month ago and I'm planning to buy one if I can find enough money.

This would've been interesting if they had released it when they promised to (about 1.5 years ago). At this point with the 3DS incoming and several other powerful mobile devices it just isn't as attractive as it could've been back then.

I don't think the Pandora is meant to compete with the 3DS or any other commercial handheld. It's a community effort that is meant to play homebrew games and emulators. And as far as I can tell, it's the fastest dedicated (handheld) emulation solution there is. It'll have AGA Amiga, N64 and possibly even Dreamcast support. AGA Amiga alone is enough for me to warrant the price..

Wow, I thought this was out a long time ago. I'm glad I didn't pre-order one.

These things are built like crap! Only 103 of 105 boards worked after they were built, that's a 2% failure rate right out of the box!

AGA Amiga will warrant a buy from me, too

Can't find anything about the final price, though.

The specs don't warrant the price in mid-2010, in my opinion. A dual core Cortex A9 with a good GPU or a Tegra 2 (which includes these things) would be great for a general purpose Linux handheld of that price.

1. Promise a handheld with awesome capabilities and outlandish specs

2. Set the price point at $200. Make it seem like a ludicrous deal

3. Open pre-orders for 1.5 years

4. Start production when the hardware is profitable for the price paid

5. ???

6. Profit!
