I burned a copy of WarioWare: Smooth Moves today, using ImgBurn on a SONY DVD+R at 4x. That combination always worked for me. I didn't use any brickblocking program or anything, because my firmware is 3.3E, and I tought it's not needed. So, when I inserted the game, the logo popped up, but when I tried to start the game - a black screen welcomed me. The game runs fine through Neogamma, tough. Hovewer I want to find out what's causing this. The game uses IOS9, and I have that installed. Shouldn't it run fine?
My Wii is on 3.3E, Wiikey with Galaxy update, I think. (if that matters)

And another problem.
I also burned Mario Strikers Charged on the same media, but this time I used brickblocker and patched the game via IOS Patcher 1.1 to IOS30 (more on that later). When I insert the game in, I get "An error has occurred. Press the eject button and etc.". The game runs quite fine with Neogamma. What might be causing this? This happened to me only with NSMBWii, but that's AP I think and it's a newer game. Any help on that?

And I have a question about IOS Patcher.
Ok, I can't quite understand how it works. So if I take, lets say, a game that uses a higher version of IOS than I have installed on my Wii and patch it to match my versions of the IOS... will it work? And is bricblocker needed to disable the update if I have the right IOS or if I patch the game with IOS Patcher?
Also, is there any kind of danger installing newer IOS on my system? I have BootMii installed. (Boot2)

I also intend on burning a copy of SSBB, and i read that it works with IOS Patcher. Will it work, because I don't want to waste a DL DVD (I only have one left).

Any help is very appreciated.

when your using neogama I think its using a cios to run the game!!!!
so endless you have like cioscorps/darkcorps installed or a modchip you won't be able to run a burned disc.

Your best bet when using ios patcher at least to me is to patch the game to use your cios rev17.

To answer your question some games it's ok to patch to an older ios and some aren't ios's do get updatd with new features and such!

I have no cIOS installed, as I said, I'm new to the whole thing. I patched the game to IOS30, because my firmware version is 3.3. I read it on a forum, don't know if the poster is an idiot, tough.
Are cIOS used by games to boot from the disk channel?

cIOS's are used when you are trying to play backups, that's why they are installed. When a game is booted it loads off an IOS (the IOS is different for each game). cIOS's are installed because they have the ability to read DVD-r discs. If you install cIOS 249 and use neogamma it forces the game to run under cIOS249 instead of which ever IOS it wanted to run under, this keeps the NAND relatively clean. Darkcorp modifies all of the IOS files that games can run on with cIOS's that can read DVD-r discs so no matter which IOS the game tries to use, it will be able to use it. Perhaps you should follow the completesoftmod guide:http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/home
EDIT: Woops, didn't see the wiikey part.

Wow how quickly people forget the function of modchips - they dont need a cIOS to run from disc channel for earlier firmware versions! The Galaxy update was the wiikey update for SMG allowing the game to be run from the disc channel.
He would be told to patch to IOS 30 as he is on 3.3 - although this is outdated and frankly unnecessary methodology. Most likely the problem you are facing with the black screen when running from the disc channel is that you don't have some newer IOSes such as 38, 53 and 55.

Thanks for the answers everybody, I sorted it all out.
It turned out that the DVD drive was the problem. I remembered that a friend of mine had the same problem with his laptop - none of the games he burned on it ran on his Wii properly. Always that "Eject disk error". Don't know what might be causing this.
I tried burning the discs on my PC, and also installed new IOS and everything worked fine.

The black screen on WarioWare is still there, tough, and I'm positive that I have IOS9 installed (it's a pretty old game). I noticed that many people face the same problem, no matter the booting method. However the game runs fine throough Neogamma and I'm gonna live with it.
