On a savegame icon note, the images may not be in the ISO but most likely generated by the game when a save function is called, you assume they are in the disk ISO but no one will know until someone goes through every file in an ISO to find out.
Actually, the files are in a known location and pretty easy to access. I discovered them while researching where to get the banner title from so that I could correctly name the games in the play log. It also seems like it would be quite easy to grab the little animated icons for the saves as well (the animation is only 8 frames and has a fixed pattern, unlike the menu banners that have multiple formats). Are these really that interesting, though?
When I get a bit of time, maybe I'll see if I can extract both the static save image and the animated icon and display them on the confirm start screen...
