Hey guys! It’s me ifish and I'm here to do my brief review of Windows 7. This review will explain the differences from Windows Vista.
Introduction
We know Windows is owned by Microsoft. I had high hopes for Windows 7 because I hated Windows Vista. When you purchase Windows 7 it will come in a box that looks like this.
When you open it up, it looks like this (below)
The box states “Welcome to your PC, simplified”. That’s what I'm expecting.
Interface
Well, to be honest Windows 7 looks like is a lot like vista with Windows Aero. The taskbar has been revamped (for the better), and it’s not ‘clunky’ like XP’s taskbar was. Windows XP’s taskbar was still great. It just looked ugly. Now, you can pin stuff to the taskbar kind of like quick launch buttons.
Here’s the taskbar:
Microsoft Paint has also been changed quite a bit (for the better):
In Windows 7 there is a lot more ‘customization’ options.
Compatibility
Windows 7 generally works with any program that worked with Vista. It also works with many of the programs that worked on XP. Any PC that is running Vista can upgrade to Windows 7 but XP users are going to have to do a “clean install” which means formatting your hard drive and starting fresh (you can just backup up your files
) In the better ‘editions’ of Windows 7 you can run ancient programs built for XP in “XP mode”.
Support
I gave the toll free number a call to see how the service was. It’s not that great but it’s manageable. You just have to get a good rep. Sadly, I didn’t.
So in conclusion
Interface: 5/5
Compatibility: 3/5 (some programs didn’t run correctly)
Support: 2/5 (let's just say, if you need help your better off going to their website)
Overall: 3/5 (not the worst windows, but a shy off the best)
