Yes, i think that would be useful.

Would it be also possible to add parental number (0/1/2) change in the game settings screen? It´s annoying to manually change the titles.txt on PC, everytime a new game is installed, which the kids shouldn´t play.

What do you think about moving the Auto Update Feature to the game settings screen? I think the kids shouldn´t be allowed to update their USB-Loader. If something gets messed up, they can´t play their games until i´m back from work

I did the Update from v3 to v4 using the auto update procedure, and it´s working great. As you wrote before, i had to do the Update twice, to get the version showing up.

Correct, the wnoimage is 130x225, the regular noimage is 160x225.

Works fine... nor problems what-so-ever

My only gripe is that it should restart the wii rather than return to the loader after updating (relinquish any network problems in game)

download settings ? yeh good idea..

any joy with the resize feature yet... As you say there would be no need for custom url location, once you have implemented that

Adding in the ability to change the parental number from the menu would be a pain, there's no code in there currently that writes to the titles.txt file and would have to be implemented for this to work correctly.. Would take more time then normal to add this right now.

As for moving the auto-update feature into the settings menu, this could be done easily and I could also make it so that if its set to use simple mode, the feature is moved to that menu, otherwise it stays on the main menu... Are you using the simple mode for your kids or just the parental controls?

I will look into adding the ability to control auto-downloading from the settings menu. Keep in mind this will be reset with whatever is set in the config.txt everytime you start the loader, but it will prevent it from accessing the network if this setting is changed. I'll keep everyone updated with what I do with this.

I can add the auto-resize feature easily enough, let me add it and test it out on my loader to see if there's a noticeable quality difference and make sure it works 100%. After it's added, the URL settings in the config.txt are no longer needed.

Disc labeling is not a feature of this loader, only cover art for the box.

Config.txt example can be found here: http://pastebin.com/f433bb2c3

I´m using both, simple mode and parental controls. I don´t want that the kids can accidently delete or install games.

Okay, so I tested the auto-resize feature out and it does work just fine, but there's a caveat.... If you'd like to use the same folder as say one of the GUI loaders, they require the cover art to be 130x224 or 160x224. Really the main point is that they need to be 224 lines tall, the current USB loader has no problem with that size, though it was made with 225 lines in mind. That being said, the problem stems from the resizing engine at theotherzone.com's web server.

Take a look at these examples:

Cover downloaded without resizing (130x225):
RBWE01.png

Cover downloaded WITH resizing to 130x224:
RBWE01.png

Cover downloaded for non-widescreen (160x225): (Good to see where the cover starts it's life, this is as close to never being resized as you can get)
RBWE01.png

You can see where the image quality goes to hell when it's resized to 224, but if we keep 225 lines then the images can't be used for both this version and the GUI version if people would like.... Maybe I set it so that the sizes can be set within the config.txt so people can choose? I don't want to hard code 224 lines because it will be dooming the image quality from the start.

Maybe other people aren't as picky as I, but I can sure as hell see a difference when it's 224, the text becomes very blurry and looks quite bad on my projector..

Could I please have a mirror of "V7.4 including source (version based on 1.5 - made by hungyip84 (19/04/09 )" because mediafire seems to be dead.

- Thanks.

QUOTE(jono@home @ Apr 24 2009, 01:21 PM) I will take a look at this later.. Good work
a feature request... I have already mention this to Hungyip, whether he will implement the following idea.. I am not sure...
I was thinking it would be easier to have config for the resize option on the images implemented into the code, as the website it come from now allows the images to be resized before download
would make things so much easier than all the different versions with different size images that are being thrown out at the moment ie. Pal 50 requires cover sizes 120 x 225
config variables example for 4:3
cvrheight = 225
cvrwidth = 160
config variables example for widescreen
wcvrheight = 225
wcvrwidth = 120

this is the url.. for the otherzone for resizing..
www.theotherzone.com/wii/resize/ {region} / {width} / {height} / { GAMEID} .png
for example 120x225 would give you this
www.theotherzone.com/wii/resize/pal/120/225/RJ2P52.png, so the old resizing method used in previous version is not needed

if anyone has time to implement this it would be great...

Hey, nice suggestion.
I have implemented this in the configurable sd/usb loader.

225 is the way to go with this loader! Ideally being able to set the size width and height via config.txt will keep the masses happy, something on the lines that I mentioned before... Have a look at oggzee implementation of it (different take) in his configurable usb loader

The best channel for USB loader is HDD loader channel, search this forum for it, as it doesn't need to show any version or anything, plus the compatibility is great.

I personally don't recommend the WAD implementation as you'll end up changing the channel constantly and messing with configurations.

Any news if HungyIP is still working on Ultimate USB loader?, his contributions are great as all the others developers.

Hope the automatic cover downloads that has this usb loader implemented,will be updated constantly.This is the best usb loader until now because simply all of the things in it are automated.No need to do a thing.It downloads the covers,it resizes them and it has no even a single bug.

It would be nice if we had an automatic 3D cover download option in the config for the backrounds that have a 3D cover setup.

This is the one I am using, for example:

I've been keeping up with adding things in and fixing bugs where I can with this loader and will continue to do so for a while guys! So the project isn't abandoned, but I'm sure it will be re-evaluated when the newer GUI based loader launches soon enough..

Anyway, with that said I'll be releasing a version soon that will replace the custom download URLs with custom resizing parameters so that you can have auto resizing downloads, and set the sizes used if you'd like to set 224 lines so the artwork can be share with other loaders.

Also looking into adding a global switch of network enabling / disabling.. Got it pretty much done but want to add a few things to it.

For those of you looking to have custom 3d artwork downloaded automatically, that's EXACTLY what I put the custom URL entry in there for! Host em up on a web server in the correct format and you'll be all set.
