As of now, it's not even close. The AK2i beats out the EZFlash 5i and the fake R4i on every aspect. Now that the US DSi is out, I'm sure the AK2i will be getting more competition soon, but as of now, that's the one you want.

I hope I dont get bombarded for asking this, but I haven't been keeping up with DS stuff in the last couple of months, so I just want to make sure. The new Acekard for the DSi, does it allow you to play retail game backups as well, or just homebrew so far? From what I read it appears to do both, but I would like to make sure before I replace my son's DS for the DSi.

Let me clarify this for all of you. From my understanding, the AK2i can do everything the current flashcart models can (minus the GBA support). That includes music, videos, games, and homebrew. What it can't do is use any of the DSi specific features. So homebrew can't use the camera or the SD slot. In the future we'll probably have access to them, but right now it's impossible.

Not so - The EZFlash 5i has some extra features

The EZFlash 5i can also do real-time-save

Another big plus is that the EZFlash 5i's transflash slot is on the side of the card, and thus hidden so people don't know you're playing backups at a glance.

FYI, I have both the EZFlash 5i and the AK2i. I like the interface and compatibility on the AK more, but I still use the EZFlash 5i because of the features I mentioned

Hope the info helps

Thank you Lemming. I am so torn about which one to get. Since you mentioned compatibility, is that a bog problem with the EZflash 5i? Like where certain games wont play?

So long as your running AKAIO firmware, compatability has not been an issue. Certain popular games that get piracy protection are automatically fixed. And if not, the team is normally the first to post a fix.

Thank you all for the info. One more question. I see they have the DSi flashcards on dealextreme for like 20 bucks? Yet I saw them elsewhere for 60 something? That is a big price difference, is it the same flashcarts?

Number 1 reason why I chose the EZflash 5i is because the slot is on the side. Looks more like a genuine cart.

I like my ezflash Vi, the only real complaint I have is cheat support isn't as good as say, the old R4 (or ysmenu r4) in a couple of games. I am going to probably get a secondone to replace my r4 for my regular DSlite., unless I just get a cyclo for that one.
