the r4 does not have the ability to boot on the dsi, its time you move on. the ak2i has the best firmware, features, and a good price. but it was first to market and appears to suffer from contact issues. my opinion is to wait. i don't understand the rush to buy a dsi when you can't even use any of the dsi features on any of the flash linkers.

The R4 will probably never work on the DSi. You'd have to buy a new cart eventually.

I'd still advise you to wait on buying the DSi and AK2i though...we'll have to see how well the AK2i does with DSi's firmware updates, the AK2i suffers contact inssues as another world said, and does not have any of the DSi's features unlocked.

QUOTE(Another World @ Apr 6 2009, 10:11 PM) do not buy a dsi until the dsi features are hacked. if you do and you get an ak2i you have just bought a 180$ ndsl, because the ak2i can ONLY make use of the ds only features.
I really could find a dozen more posts you made saying the exact same thing across the past few days. Do not buy a DSi now because there is no flash card that takes advantage of DSi's new features. Yeah, we got the message! It almost seems as you don't feel like investing the money in the DSi and is trying to convince yourself that it isn't worth it right now.

MAYBE people want to buy a DSi now because they like the excitement of something new and fresh.
Maybe because they want the new exciting features NOW instead of waiting for your life to go by as the card takes time to be released.
Maybe it's their first DS and it makes no sense to buy a DSLite now.
Maybe they want to buy the AK2i to play the DS games right now instead of waiting for the new card.
Maybe they find that the low price of the AK2i is worth spending the money, even if a new card comes soon, as you could max the price of the AK2i with a few DS rentals.

I know that's your opinion, but the thing is that in the past few days I've been browsing the forums and reading you say that time and time again, and the topic would finish with your statement, with no people showing another opinion. So I just needed to come in and post my own opinion. I bought a DSi (after being months without a DSLite), a AK2i, and I'm having a LOT of fun with it, right now! Who knows what will happen tomorrow, I would rather have fun right now

maybe you should do something more constructive than misrepresent my opinions. i never said you shouldn't do it, i said there is no point in doing it. you just spent $180 for a dsl. the fact remains that the ak2i can not do any of the dsi features, and never will. it boots to ds mode only.. people are asking if they should buy now or wait, and i keep saying to wait. i'm happy you have your dsi, i'm glad your enjoying it, frankly i'm not you. i'm living in bad economic times, the economy is in the shitter, the unemployment rate is going up, money is losing its value. does it make sense right now to buy a dsi and an ak2i? no it does not, for every reason i just stated. not to mention the fact that again you just pad 60$ (before tax) more than you needed to, to use the ds only features. lets face the facts, a very large percentage of the people in this hobby will never buy a retail game. based on that i have made statements for the majority.

also you failed to quote me on the fact that i keep saying how poorly constructed the ak2i is. there are more complaints about contact issues, msd slot issues, broken springs, build issues, and dsi feature bricks than all of my rants about waiting.

but hell if you still live at home, and/or you have a job an no worries about losing it, i guess go out and buy a dsi.

Hey another world. I've been noticing practically every post you reply to lately is generally the same. You seem to dislike the AK2i because of how rushed it was. You also keep saying how it inst worth it to purchase a DSi because no flashcards make use of the DSi specific features. But this does not matter. Why do you need a flashcard to make use of the DSi features? You can simply use the card for DS games and use the actual DSi for play DSiware and actually buy the games and stuff. Just because a flashcard isn't fully compatible with the DSi doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the system.

thanks for saying it 4 times, i get your point. this is a website dedicated to roms/homebrew and the ability to use them. so my comments still stand as they never once mentioned anything related to actually buying games and/or purchasing dsiwares.

i have commented to people who say, should i get a dsi and an ak2i, or should i get an ak2i. they are not asking if they should get a dsi and/or if its better than the dsl. you are misinterpreting the questions and then judging me because i am the only one vocal on the subject.

people can do what they wish. they can purcahse the ak2i and find the same faults with it that so many others have. they can purcahse the dsi and buy all their games. i don't care actually, and i don't comment on what they should do. i simply state my opinion, which i can see upsets you so much you had to tell me 4x =P

aren't computers fun? heh. you and anyone else who is annoyed with my recent barrage of comments should come to #acekard and discuss it. posting opinions back and forth on here will never let us see eye-to-eye or get to know one another’s personalities. forums are very informal and the bad is all that ever comes through.

well i for one am glad another world said what he did about the acekard2i cuz i like to know the pros and cons of what im buying and i would rather wait for a card that doesnt have so many problems and that will be able to take full advantage of my hardware device be it the dsl or dsi (cuz im a poor starving student and dont have to much money to spend and dont want to spend any money on the shop) so thx everyone for ur insights, also know any flashcards that r in development that look promising?

for first time DS owners, i would buy the DSi now and get the Acekard 2i now. when the DSi features finally arrive, and your Acekard 2i doesn't work with the new features, then chuck it and get a new card that works. its cheaper than getting a DSLite now and replacing it with a new DSi and compatible card later.

if you got the DSLite now, then just stick with it and see if the DSi features are worth it. most 3rd party game makers are gonna stick with the DS hardware compatibility anyways, higher installed base and all.

just my two cents, cheers.

your cool "cheers"

R4 to Acekard2i is a big step but the Acekard is waaay more advanced obviously and you will be happy with what you get;
not saying that it can brick on you, but it happens! (to the AK2i)
