I just ran across this interesting comparison chart on flashcarts.

I noticed that the iTouch DS has some pretty nice features including real time save (RTS) and slow motion. I had no idea this cart had those features until I saw this. I'm just curious why no one seems to say much about them or recommend them? It looks to me that it is the cheapest option with RTS!

For the "best" flashcarts, it seems the general consensus around here is as follows (obviously open to debate):
"Premium" - CylcoDS, M3 Real (with an honorable mention to Supercard DSOne)
"Budget" - Acekard 2, Edge

Maybe I'm missing something, but in the budget range I'd say that the iTouch DS should definitely at least get a look. It's pretty much the same price as the Edge and only a few more dollars than the Acekard. It has RTS and slow motion (which I believe neither the Acekard nor Edge have). To add to that, it's also made by the same dependable team behind M3 Real so I don't see support dying off any time soon. Maybe it's not quite the budget king since I think Acekard still holds that slot, but I think it should be considered to be recommended at or above the level of the Edge anyway. It could potentially be considered as a cheap alternate to some of the more expensive ones (if you really need RTS and slow motion) as well, right?

Could we not then update my little chart to go as follows?:
"Premium" - CylcoDS, M3 Real, iTouch DS (with an honorable mention to Supercard DSOne)
"Budget" - Acekard 2, iTouch DS, Edge

One of the main reasons I'm considering this is because the Acekard is currently sold out at DX. I was going to order the Edge... but now after considering all this, I'm thinking the iTouch DS may be a better option. I could be missing a big piece to the puzzle though? Surely there has to be some reason no one talks about this cart much. I've spent a decent amount of time searching these forums and really didn't find much at all on the iTouch DS. So it's hard to draw any conclusions.

I'd be extremely interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on the subject!

I think part of it is because the GUI is so terrible. It moves really slow, it's ugly, and it doesn't let you choose the game you want as quickly as other carts do. People love the Acekard2 and the EDGE because of their GUIs. The iTouchDS doesn't have that going for it. I think that's a part of why no one recommends the iTouchDS.

You're crazy! You have the CycloDS and a M3DS Real and you choose to use an iTouch? I want whatever he's on!

Yes, if someone chooses differently than you they must be wrong!

No I think it is weird as well, the itouch is clearly better than the acekard2 yet doesn't get the love.

I don't own an itouch cart but do own an acekard 2, the acekard 2 I'm afraid is just a bog standard no frills flash cart, yes the menu is nice, but it's a menu ? and not as fantastic as some suggest, it scrolls smooth and has big icons and millions of options that do literally nothing, only niceish feature is the multi-save, whicj many carts have anyway.

note, not slagging off the acekard2 but it is on the basic side, run games, use cheats.. that's it.

GUIDE IS FAIL!

to throw a spanner in the works here .....

genuine R4 do not have SDHC! any that do are clones!

All cards use the same kinda cheat files they are not actually BUILT IN they just come part of the bundle and can be changed/updated easily!

R4 was one of the first cards with action replay type USRCHEAT.dat/CHEAT.dat files!

not all M3 REAL cards come with a free rumble card ....

some come card on its own some with just the rumble some with just the ram and one with BOTH ram and rumble packs and one with ram, rumble and an adapter card to use with DS PHAT'S

Umm...

Yeah I will admit the part about R4's having SDHC is wrong, but that's the only thing wrong about that table. Yes, all M3DS Reals come with a rumble pack for slot 2. And yes, most cards do have cheats built into it, but it's still worth mentioning.

I really like the idea of RTS since I play a lot of RPG's where you can't always save whenever you want. That being said, it's not worth the extra money of getting one of the other "premium" cards though.

Anyway, interesting comments so far. Sounds like I may be on to something.

I've also been reading that the iTouch may have the option of running alternate firmware as well? Sounds like another bonus to me.

The only reason I brought it up is to mention RTS and slow motion. Think I should edit my original post?

Yes, the GUI is relatively slow...but overall I like it. I like the interface for toggling the different options and I am glad that they added the RTS option (even though I do not find it terribly useful). Overall it's just a solid cart. I guess I can't even put my finger on why I prefer it. I would definitely recommend it.

I don't have an iTouch, but I do have an M3DS Real running the triple boot (which has the iTouchDS firmware in it). It runs just as quickly as it would on a regular iTouch (which is real slow moving and hard to do anything). It's so useless they might as well call the triple boot a 2 and a half boot.

Have you seen the economy lately? There is a reason I'm getting a flashcart...

I understand what you are saying though.

AceKard 2 + AKAIO loader = Awesome. Also In game menu, slow motion and real time support may be added in the future. (I know the AKAIO devs have been dabbling in it as well as homebrew soft reset as well). AKAIO is awesome and a must have for any AceKard 2 owner, it adds in a lot of new features, bug fixes that the original loader doesn't have and its much faster.

The iTouchDS is a good card as well, its made by the same people who makes the M3 Real but its a stripped down, low budget version of it. Heck, you can run the M3 Sakura, M3 Real and iTouchDS loaders on it. What puts people off from the cart is that it has a slow and clunky GUI and can be a bit of a pain to use at times and some other minor annoyances and problems. Other wise, its a very nice budget flashcart.

If you can run M3 Sakura and M3 Real on the iTouchDS then wouldn't it be just as good as them?

Thats a bad reason to get an itouch.
I didn't mean it as a reason to get the iTouch, I just meant to say it shouldn't exclude someone from getting one if that makes sense. Since I didn't see anyone talking about it, I was worried that maybe the card would not be supported. When I found out that it was the M3 team though that helped alleviate that fear.
