Disappointing. I didn't want to play past the tutorial. I like the camera view, and when I first was instructed to sneak up and disable an enemy, I thought to myself, "ooh, maybe this will be like a handheld Metal Gear game." But alas, they had to force in some very poor touch-screen gameplay. The combat is really bad, aiming with the gun is hit & miss (no pun intended), and collision detection is kind of all over the place.

On the plus side, the control over Bond when simply navigating him around is pretty good, and his ramming technique is fun. Judy Dench's voice is a nice touch, but I really don't want to have to look at her pruned face every two seconds. Yeesh!

I was actually looking forward to this game somewhat, based on previews in Nintendo Power. The book-style approach is always novel, and this game could have been a fun if forgettable romp had they stuck with some basic stuff, a la Dragon Sword. But as it stands, it's only forgettable.

Played through the tutorial.. graphics are really not that bad.. and I liked very much of the touch screen control scheme, very creative.. the only problem is that IT DOESN'T WORK! The meele combat is clumsy and never registers right what you're doing, it works nicely on the tutorial when the guy don't react, but when you get into a real fight blocking never works and the enemy is always able to hit you before you can do anything! Now, for shooting, you press any button and go into shooting mode and then you tap what you want to shoot.. nice! It's like Resident Evil! And just like in RE, you can't move while you're shooting.. the big difference here is that on RE, you're fighting zombies! They don't have guns to shoot you back! On the other hand.. in this game, the enemies can shoot you back from a distance! Well, they have to stay still while shooting too, so, I could live with that.. IF THE SHOOTING WOULD ACTUALLY WORK! A bunch of times you tap a guy to shoot and Bond just stay there.. still.. wtf!?

I'm not against touch screen controls, I'm totally in favor that developers should try new control schemes, Zelda and Ninja Gaiden have the most perfect and intuitive controls on the DS IMO.. and the ideas in this game are not bad.. they're just awfully implemented.. a little bit of more testing and polishing and this game would be great..

I can understand it thought, the game was probably rushed to be out with the movie.. it's a shame really.. lot of potential wasted here

Remember, that famous video (and the picture from it) is like twenty years old. He looks rather different now.

I can block enemies just fine, its kind of silly just how much more powerful fisticuffs are in this game, everyone stops shooting at you if you engage someone in hand to hand, and given the tight screen dimensions when walking left or right, shooting is only *ever* a viable option when the enemy is in the up/down orientation anyway. Why you can't rotate the camera is just ludicrous. Enemies with guns have a distinct advantage of shooting you from off screen.

The key to fists is that you have to *really* slow down and draw straight and slow... Coming to this off of NG:Dragon Sword is a real handicap because you're expecting the need to be quick with combo movements when the game demands the exact opposite. If you move the stylus too fast or erratically the game will just auto fail you, or make you perform a default attack that usually results in you being stunned.

As for guns not working, it never happened to me, you have to manually reload in this game, set your ammo to the bandolier quickslot and listen for the click click. Oddly this game doesn't count bullets like most shooters, its very realistic in that if you change a clip with some still in it, you just lost bullets.

You can replay levels again and again to level up. I accidentally did the tutorial twice and earned enough chips to level up a few bond abilities as well as build a good poker hand for bonuses.

this game isn't too bad. i'm kind of liking it. the controls are taking some time to get used to, epically hand to hand combat. don't like how some of the walls don't go transparent properly, get in your view too often. a 6.5/10, maybe 7.

Yeah, I'm giving the game another chance, and after the tutorial, it's not that bad. Of course, that first boss was a real bitch... until I realized I just needed to take him out first and then concentrate on his henchmen after.

But Porkdish, I think, nailed it in his/her description. You discover after trial and error that going slow is better and melee is definitely the more practical approach in terms of taking out enemies. The interface is pretty bad, though. Sure, you can assign hotkeys in the bottom left corner, but you'll still end up having to go into your menu mid-battle in order to reload or health up. Plus, health drops sure seem rare. The game's either too easy or too hard.

But it's not terrible. Some good ideas, some bad ones.
