for those who don't know yet, d2pro 9 wire version is coming out, but it's not compatible with existing wii clip v4.

they are currently working on making new version of wii clip v4b to be compatible with d2pro 9.

will take some time.

as for me, i hate 9 wire version, since wasabi has too much problem, and dvd upgrade is old news + stealth problem too, detectable by nintendo.

anywayz, is there any canada residents there? i live in toronto, and i ordered from ozmod and it's been sent on apr 15th, still no sign of it,

i was wondering how long it usually takes by regular shipping from austrailia to canada

Hi,

Sorry, I'm a total noob at this...

Can you specify the location where you tape down the Wii-Clip? Maybe post a picture? Do you tape where the teeth are? Do you tape the chip? Do you tape the part the chip is attached to, to the Wii?

Thanks

I didn't tape mines at all...I think it's a pretty snug fit and won't get loose...I personally dont move my wii around or bring it anywhere so I doubt it will fall off...

Mine got here today! 2 weeks..

I can't find a small enough philips screwdriver to open it! Anyone knows which screwdriver I need to do that?

Don't you need a tri-wing...

The tri-wing came with the Wii-clip.. aside from the "tri-screws".. there are also some philips screws on the Wii, but they're very small..

Oh, then you'll probably need a jewelers screwdriver set.

Well.. after trying another screwdriver.. and failing.. I took it to a guy who works with modchips and ask him to open the thing for me
sleep.gif

Luckly, he was a pretty cool guy who installed the thing for free and doesn't afraid of anything
tongue.gif

Now, it's working, I can play backup games.. but my original ones are not working.. any ideas?
frown.gif

Edit: if it helps, Found out that the Wii was with it's time reseted after the installation.. searched the forums and found people with the same problem, but no solution.. I'll have to open it up again, won't I? >_>

@ontopic: OzModChips service was very good.. the chip got here in 2 weeks and they sent it the way I asked to, highly recomended

Hi There,

I just want to interject that I installed the Clip with D2CKey that I got from Oz, and it works fine.

Thanks Oz.

And regarding scredrivers, I have 2 sets of precision scredrivers, but none would fit the philips-head screws on the WII.
I used a tiny screwdriver that I got with my Vosonic image-tank for free. It fit like a glove.
The problem is that the head can't sink into the screws far enough.
I even purchased a set which included a PH000, but it just did not fit. So make sure you have a tiny screwdriver.

Cheers,

A MOD-chip enables you to play backup games on your WII.
But if you want to play imported games from a different region (like Japanese games on you US console) then you need to enable region free support.

Some MOD-chips have region free enabled by default, or you can short a jumper on the mod-chip.
But in some cases, the region free support also needs an extra contact between the mod-chip and your WII drive board. This extra contact is not provided in the WII-clip and you need to solder an additional wire to you Wii (for some chips 4 wires).

Hope this explains it to you.

Cheers.

I just ordered:

1 x Wii-Clip v4 (Solderless interface for D2pro) = $90.00
Wii Clip Extras D2pro soldered on + Triwing
1 x D2Prog - D2pro and D2ckey Programmer = $27.23

Reason I ordered the D2 prog is for future upgrade... you never know when you're going to need it. And besides, it's cheap!

Can't wait for the mailman to arrive...

Received my order from Ozmodchips.com today.

The pre-soldered D2Pro / Wii-Clip was a cinch to install. The combo deal also included a tri-wing screwdriver.

The Wii-Clip installation didn't require as much push-down pressure as I thought it might. I just used firm, equal pressure and made sure it was equally flush with the circuit-board on all four sides. Instead of taping or gluing the Wii-Clip down what I did was cut a 1-inch piece of black electrical tape, rolled it 'sticky-side out', cut it to size and placed it on top of the clip-casing. This reduced the clearance between the clip / Wii casing resulting in a very snug fit and will lessen the chance of the clip coming loose in the future.

All backups and originals are working great, couldn't be happier with the performance of the D2Pro.

Extra solder and wire for the optional 4-wire D2Pro region-free was also included.

All in all it was a pleasure to deal with Ozmodchips. I recommend them to anyone who wants to receive excellent service, peace of mind, and great product(s) all while being treated like a valued, respected customer.

I installed my clip yesterday, but today it did not work anymore.
huh.gif

My WII did not recognize any disks.
So back to the workbench and opening up the WII again.
The clip seemed to be installed OK, but the lights would only flash at bootup, not when a disk was inserted.
So I pushed down a little harder and then it worked.
I put some more electrical tape on it to keep pressure on the clip, but I noticed that it stopped working after I fastened the screws on the dive.
So I removed all electical tape and let the clip just 'hang on'.
I think that the electrical tape that I put on applied some uneven pressure on the clip making it disconnect at one side.
Something like that.

Now it works again, but if it ever stops working again, I'm going to take it out completely.
I just hope that the tri-wing screwdriver from OzMod can take another disassembly. It had trouble with 3 screws already.

Cheers,

Wat not use some glue? You can try using a "glue gun" (lijmpistool) and glue it onto the PCB. That will make sure it doesn't move!
smile.gif
The thing about the glue is that you can remove the glue by pulling it from the PCB (be really careful though).

It's not like Nintendo is ever gonna give you warranty anymore...

Just wondered why no-one seems to be ordering the Argon (v1.8)?. I want a pre-soldered solution but have been reading about clicking drives with d2pro chips, anyone know anymore about this?

Some people are
Argon with 1.8 firmware is a fantastic modchip

D2pro apparently has issues with some DVD drives, 'clicking issues' If you have that issue you need to get the programmer to upgrade to v1.1
If you get argon you dont need to worry about that.

Got my pre-soldered Argon on Thursday (only 1 week) and installed this weekend. I am not able to get any back ups to work though. The blue LED on the chip is lighting up, i have tried pushing it on a couple of times and it seems well secured. I have spend most of today trying to get it to work without any luck and have run out of ideas. Any advice would be appreciated. I am using Verbatim DVD-R media and have burnt at 4x and 2x using Nero and ImgBurn. Thanks
