I am seriously tempted to buy this, but I'm a bit worried because I will never be 100% certain that my console has a D2C chip. Is there any way to verify this without opening the console? If I realize my Wii is not compatible with the D2CKey, will I be reimbursed?

Well it doesn't help much [IMG] :
There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C

There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

Hi, I'm a Wii modding newbee from Malta. Would some one be kind enough to point me to the right direction of choosing a Wii mod chip? I have a NSTC-USA Wii (from eBay, saved about EUR 94 as opposed to buying it from Malta). When checking for the type of drive chip my Wii has i got the "50% chance D2C, 50% chance pins are cut" - Since this is no clear answer, I decided to order a triwing screwdriver from eBay (can't seem to find any here) and see what's inside myself.

I'm assuming for now (as I do my research) that a D2C drive chip is installed. Between the D2PRO and D2CKEY or any other D2C chip (open to suggestions) which would be the better option for least hassle full / long term installation? I am intending on using a Wii-clip , since even though I have intermediate soldering skills I'm not to confident on those fine pins!

I wish to use my wii to play back-ups and even maybe some times PAL games, so i guess I need region free feature.

    Thanks for your help! [IMG]

    Cheeers,

if you live in the usa then it probably going to take about a week and a half if you use registered post and if you use dhl it probablly take half of that time...

I just found out I have a D2C chip of doom.
I had a D2A before but I sent it in for repairs.
Not like I coulda asked them not to touch the DVD drive.
They didnt touch anything else though heh.

After working on a PIC chip programer and getting a PIC chip to program YOASM on it I find out I have a D2C the whole time.

So this is a good save of time.
Plus I dont have to worry about soldering anymore.
Now just to wait till I have the money.

How long is this discount going for?
(also out of the three chips here, any suggestions on the best ones? Or possibly best for differnt needs? Gamecube games and imports are my main interests)

I just ordered the Wii-Clip + Triwing + D2CKey for $80.XX shipped to the US, THANKS for the coupon! [IMG]

Question: I left in the message section a request to have the region-free wire soldered on (I have NTSC-U). Do I still have to solder something to the Wii itself or it's just clip and go? I want to be able to play NTSC-U/J and Pal on my console.

So whenever I do system updates, the Wii won't brick with this setup?

    Thanks! [IMG]
