The Fort Hood shooter is scheduled to be executed by firing squad in December, and the Trump administration has stated it will be livestreamed.

In most countries, executions are not conducted publicly. Last year, only 2 countries allowed the general public to view executions.

Live streaming however is unprecedented. It remains unclear what streaming platform would agree to such an event. Lawyers suspect the decision will be challenged in court and that any such execution will be stayed well past Trump's term.

Prior to Trump's presidency, the US had not carried out any executions in nearly 2 decades.

This is the most barbaric thing I've seen this government do. Wars are one thing, televised firing squads like you're some dogshit Middle Eastern nation is another.

And we all know why they want to do this. He's Palestinian. They're desperate to show their loyalty to Israel that badly.

Those that do not want Capital Punishment - Really???? So just let People do whatever horrific Crime they can think of, so they can have a Room, Food, Medical, whatever, all with Taxpayers paying the Bill for so many Years? Rather have it Broadcast, that way it will let so many little punks thinking they can do whatever the hell they want, can rethink their BS choices.
Oh, no Police, or Prisons, huh? Well then....hope some Criminal nutcase does not do anything to anyone YOU know. Plus, if that Socialist-Communist shit happens, and they do that......yeah.....probably going to get so many Criminals turning up missing because they decided to Victimize the wrong person. Even after all the promises this administration broke, you still defend them like an abused wife. No one is saying the execution shouldn't happen. It's the publicity of it that is unwarranted, and the only reason they are doing is an attempt to strike fear in anyone that opposes them. But have you already forgotten? We've already had public executions, recorded by bystanders. What were the names of those that were executed? A few to note were Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Who were they?

EVERYDAY FUCKING CITIZENS!

Executed by the very goons that were hired by this administration, roaming our streets, disappearing people that have no criminal record. You want capital punishment? You want people to pay for their crimes? Alright, then how about promoting the release of the Epstein Files to get at those that raped children? How about answers to why we are in a war that never had to happen? The war that has caused the entire country to suffer? We are sending billions of dollars each year to Israel which could have been used for this country for things like healthcare and such. But instead, it's sent overseas so THEY could have universal healthcare, support for their genocide on Gaza, and various other things.

If you had a sliver of wanting justice, you'd want this administration hanged for their crimes against the country. But you don't, and just like so many people who are finally seeing the light, you only will once your use to them is over, and they throw you under the bus like everyone else.

After another ICE terrorist murdered someone in front of their toddler in New York today, the only executions I want to see livestreamed are Trump, Hegseth, and Miller being drawn and quartered in Times Square. Enough of these fucking degenerate fascists already.

What post is this meant to be a reply to? I think theres a reference to the livestream in there somewhere, but I'm fascinated about what "that socialist-communist" stuff is. There's just so many words.

That's not the issue at hand here. It's about the live-streaming of it. Which means that right from the very first sentence your comment is a strawman. I'm personally pro-death penalty* (As long as there is no doubt that the person did the illegal action, there is appropriate evidence, and there is no possibility that they would ever be rehabilitated).

But putting a question back to you: Is it good for a civilized society to allow civilians to watch the government killing someone? If you do, you're in good company with North Korea, Iran, China, and some other authoritarian regimes.

By some metrics the USA already meets some third world county criteria with all the recalled food, parasites in food causing food borne illnesses etc., data centers ruining drinking water supply, increase in spread diseases like the measeals, and even soap recalls we've dealt with in the last year.

In the U.S alone, citizens can be beaten by the police, filmed, then their video including their full name gets uploaded online, so that everyone can watch the full humiliation, including their parents / colleagues / partner .. and why not their children and grand children later.

Americans may see that as normal but (from an foreigner's perspective) these laws are harsh. There are ethical principles in preserving human dignity, even when a person has committed a crime and faced their punishment.

Don't even stop there! The parents and children will be doxed and harassed. They'll have death threats sent to them by people who believe the unarmed person being beaten by the police were 100% in the wrong and deserve what they got.

Only sane comment here.I speak arabic and ive lurked social media and unfortunately he started to be hailed as a martyr for some extremist.He should have been dealt with years ago.
