Hey everyone,
I just finished english patches for the Japanese Nintendo 3DS releases of Dragon Quest I, II and III. It adapts the official English script from the Nintendo Switch version and translates the 3DS interface.
What is translated
Story dialogue, battle messages, item and equipment names and descriptions, menus, and the Adventure Guide. The four opening narration cards use the official English text, including Erdrick and Dragonlord terminology.
Name entry uses Latin characters. All eight possible default names for the Prince of Cannock and all eight for the Princess of Moonbrooke use their official English equivalents. Choosing No at the king's name-confirmation prompts allows custom Latin names of up to eight characters.
Default-name changes apply to new Adventure Logs. Names already stored in existing saves remain unchanged.
Known issues and TODO
Some text may still clip, wrap awkwardly, or overlap. Japanese remains in staff credits and some map/fallback strings; their visibility during normal play remains under review. Title, ending, and other graphics need a final visual audit.
Complete playthrough testing, verify Luma3DS compatibility on real hardware, check the latest personality-test layout, audit character placeholders and text commands, correct remaining overflow, and review untranslated strings and graphics.
