Omega is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) dashboard that replaces the Home screen on a jailbroken PS5. It runs as homebrew and puts installed games and homebrew in the same row.

What it does

  • Home: games and homebrew side by side, background colours taken from the artwork, direct launch.
  • Store: 49 open-source homebrew (RetroArch, ScummVM, DevilutionX, Mednafen, Yamagi Quake II…). One button installs them; Omega tells .pkg, .zip and .elf apart on its own.
  • Personal library from your own JSON file of game backups.
  • Community: a wall with posts and comments, group chats, playtime stats and a friends leaderboard.
  • Party with text chat and invites. Voice chat is still experimental.
  • 6 colour themes, generated ambient music, a lightweight reading browser.
  • 27 languages: it follows the console language automatically.
  • Your own server: the server is open source too. Host one for your group and switch to it in Settings.

Install

You need a jailbroken PS5 with websrv running. Open https://play.omegasuite.it/installa in the console browser and press the button. You can also send the installer .elf to a payload loader (port 9021) or copy the folder over FTP. Updates after that are signed (Ed25519) and checked on the console before they install.

Status: this is an early release, tested on a PS5 with OnionHEN and websrv. Bug reports and feedback are very welcome: open an issue on GitHub or reply here.

Omega is an independent project, not affiliated with Sony. It contains no games and does not bypass any copy protection. Developed by TheCriicom.

This is neat. I've noticed Dashboard replacements were mainly an Xbox Homebrew thing in the past and weren't really done on most systems. Cool to see one here.
Yeah, exactly! 😄 I was actually pretty inspired by the old Xbox homebrew dashboards. I always liked how they turned the console into something more customizable, so I wanted to bring a bit of that feeling to the PS5.
