Moon WiiVC Injector - Modernized Edition
Wii & GameCube Virtual Console Injector for Wii U
Rewritten for modern standards: .NET 9, Avalonia UI, Cross-Platform, and Pure C# Architecture

GitHub Repository | Releases & Downloads

- Why this project exists

For years, TeconMoon's WiiVC Injector (and later the great fork by piratesephiroth) has been the go-to tool for injecting Wii, GameCube, and Homebrew titles into the Wii U Virtual Console.

However, the software was built on aging foundations: .NET Framework 4.5, Windows Forms, and heavy reliance on extracting dozens of legacy 32-bit executables, Cygwin DLLs, and Java wrappers into `%TEMP%` on every startup. This made the original tool Windows-only, prone to silent crashes, and tricky to maintain.

The goal of this **Modernized Edition** is simple: **bring the injector into the modern era with modern tech, clean code, fewer bugs, and true cross-platform support (Windows and Linux).**

- Major Architectural Improvements

  • Cross-Platform UI (Avalonia UI + .NET 9):
Completely migrated away from legacy Windows Forms. Powered by Avalonia UI and C# 13, the interface looks and behaves natively on both Linux (Wayland/X11) and modern Windows (10/11).
  • Modern MVVM Architecture:
Presentation and business logic are cleanly separated using CommunityToolkit.Mvvm. Tasks are fully asynchronous, non-blocking, and support safe task cancellation without leaving orphan files.
  • Elimination of Fragile Subprocesses & Temp Extraction:
Instead of dumping external CLI tools to disk and launching separate processes, critical functionality has been ported directly to high-performance, in-memory C#:
    • NFS partition encryption and repacking (Nfs2Iso2Nfs) rewritten natively with buffer pooling (ArrayPool<byte>).
    • Full disc unscrubbing for NKit images (.nkit.iso / .nkit.gcz) runs entirely in-process.
    • Ancast patching (c2w), DOL patching, and audio conversion (.btsnd) are now 100% native C#.
  • True Standalone Single-File Executables:
No loose DLLs, no external resource folders, and no .NET runtime installation required. Everything is bundled into a single compressed binary for easy portability.
  • Pre-Flight Environment Checks:
The tool validates system prerequisites (such as Java and WIT) before starting long conversion queues, alerting you immediately with distro-specific commands if something is missing.

- Features Overview

  • Inject Wii Retail (.iso, .wbfs, .nkit.iso, .iso.dec).
  • Inject GameCube Retail discs with multi-disc support and Nintendont autoboot.
  • Inject vWii NAND Titles and Homebrew DOLs.
  • Wii Classic Controller emulation on the Wii U GamePad.
  • Optional vWii c2w clock speed patch for GameCube games.
  • Custom branding: Drag & Drop support for TV banners, GamePad DRC images, logos, and boot sounds.
  • Automatic artwork and sound downloader with smart regional fallback.
  • Real-time logs tab with live progress indicators.

- System Requirements

  1. Java Runtime (JRE or JDK 17+): Required for JNUSTool and NUSPacker to download clean base files and pack WUPs.
  2. Wiimms ISO Tools (wit): Required on Linux (sudo apt install wit / sudo pacman -S wit). Windows uses the bundled tool.
  3. Keys: Wii U Common Key and Rhythm Heaven Fever Title Key (entered once in Settings).

- Community Feedback & Testing Wanted!
This rewrite touches nearly every aspect of the codebase. I would love to hear your feedback:
  • How does it perform on your system? (Windows, Linux distros, Steam Deck)
  • Did you encounter any edge cases with specific Wii or GameCube games?
  • Any features or quality-of-life additions you'd like to see?

Please test it out, report any issues on the GitHub tracker or here in this thread, and let's keep Wii U injection smooth and future-proof!

the original teconmoon still works for me but I appreciate this
My main focus was to make TeconMoon run on Linux and keep it bug-free. On Windows, the original still works well, but for Windows users, my version drops Windows 7 compatibility in favor of performance improvements from 64-bit software and in-house solutions. Because of that, although it is technically a fork, I chose to host it as a separate project on GitHub.

yo im trying to use this to play mkwii with the gamepad + with wiimmfi but it always throws this error:

Conversion Failed!
Could not find file 'C:\Users\Usuario\AppData\Local\Temp\Moon WiiVC Injector\SOURCETEMP\TIKTEMP\tmd.bin'.

A detailed log has been saved in the output directory (and temporary folder)

Any way to fix this? also this is the said log:

Pretty sure it also works for me - haven't used it in a while - but that's not the point of this.

Always nice to see an old tool getting a rework. I'll be testing this as soon as i get the chance, OP. Godspeed.

Would be great if there was a flatpak version of it for use on Steam Deck or Steam Machine. Can't easily install external libraries on that.
