Did i format it properly or do we simply need an update to use the sd card reader in general?
Also if i hit update, what would it do?
-Update system software
-Get the exfat patch only
-Other
Has anyone gotten an sd card of any sort to read without the update?|
*Also, this was tried with regular micro sd as didn't want to erase my express card

IIRC we had a userland exploit on day 1. It does almost nothing for us. It's just a cool trick.

You will need to update it. There's no way around it.

No we had an ROP exploit. Which is more just hijacking a currently running process and basically useless on its own.

dam so i was right, and theres no way to use the sd without updating if u hadnt activated it early??

No SD is not supported. Plug in a SD express card and it will just work after you restart.

Switch 2 can use a regular SD card, but it is limited to screenshots and video captures. No games can be stored/accessed on it while in use on Switch 2, which includes Switch 1 games. And because the Switch 2 is a completely different system, you can't just download your Switch 1 titles onto the card from a Switch 1, and then insert it into the Switch 2 to access them. They are encrypted by the system's unique signature. Tied to your Nintendo Account, but encrypted by your console.

It had been rumored than the T239 would be on a newer fab because of numbers found in the giga leak that wouldn't work on Samsung 8N. But we all see that wasn't true, and that they did get it working on S8N. But the thing is, they designed it based on that long ago. Long before the RAMcopolypse was a thing, or even AI for that matter.

It wasn't a choice to avoid that. It was a choice to avoid everyone else wanting their hands on the latest processes.
