Star Fox Command Download Play not working with TwiLightMenu++

I tried to do the Download Play multiplayer for Star Fox Command with my little brother yesterday, I was using my New 3DS XL to host the game via TwiLightMenu++ and he was using my DS Lite, yet every time I tried to have him join the game would disconnect during the loading process. I tested other games and those would work fine, but Star Fox Command refused to work. Anyone know a way to fix this?

Try turning off card read DMA in the per-game settings menu (opened by pressing Y button in TWLMenu++).

Didn’t fix the issue, but the client system now progresses to the screen saying “Downloading data” where before it didn’t, so something changed. Using Namco Museum DS and New Super Mario Bros. to test again, those games work fine, but Star Fox Command is still refusing to work.
