During Computex 2026, ASUS made a couple of announcements, including some gaming-related ones to celebrate 20 years of their gaming division, ROG. In particular, the company announced the ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle, which includes the ROG Xbox Ally X20 (an upgraded ROG Xbox Ally X model in a transparent colour scheme) and the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20. The latter is a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses that pairs with the ROG Xbox Ally X20 via USB-C to provide the user with a portable 171-inch screen experience with a 240Hz refresh rate.

Some of the specs and features of the upgraded ROG Xbox Ally X20 include:
  • A new 7.4-inch ROG Nebula HDR OLED display, running at 120Hz with FreeSync Premium Pro
  • Corning Gorilla Glass protection and anti-reflection coating
  • AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with AMD Radeon graphics, 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, a 1TB SSD
    80Wh battery
  • TMR joystick sensors to bypass stick drift
  • Transforming D-pad: from a standard 4-way input into a smooth 8-way configuration for diagonal inputs
  • XBOX mode, running on Windows 11
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle is expected to be available in the second half of 2026. Its pricing has yet to be revealed.

i might actually buy that one.
Depending on what it costs.
Playing "Last of Us" in bed could be fun.
I could use some fun.

Does this mean the Xbox ROG Ally X has been a financial success? I haven't kept an eye on Microsoft, but last I heard, they've got 'Project Helix' in the pipeline. So, it was looking a bit bad, with the Xbox Series X/S not having many exclusives and Microsoft going third party with some of their key franchises, but they're staying afloat in the industry.

This is the ROG Xbox Ally X20 bundle featuring both the new ROG Xbox Ally X20 with the ROG X Real R1 Edition 20
I wonder how many times he had to practice saying that one in front of a mirror.

Also, I own a pair of X real glasses and they're amazing. Worth every penny imo

I think the cost of the glasses has likely gone down, while the price of the components of the console have increased. Bundling them together will make it seem like a better value, but it's definitely going to cost at least $1500, which is a lot for a handheld that can easily break.

For a giant company like Microsoft - it's hard to feel pain from a bit of lost money here or there

Even so - if they sell the unit with some buffer for profit and don't overproduce it - they can make profit even from relatively few sales

On the one hand this is a revision that doesn't break R&D, on the other hand, it is weird to pair AR with such a big device. Feels like it should have been with a lite/slim revision.

For the upper class only. I can already say this s*t its gonna cost north of 2k.
This. Absolutely zero reason to get overheating garbage hardware from a garbage company in place of a solid pre-built desktop, projector, and wireless MKB to have that "portable" around the house feel. Or even a helluva proper laptop that will run circles around this garbage.
