Doesn't matter if it's GBAtemp, nowadays you should use an adblocker for the modern web because 1) you don't get riddled with nags, popups and malware, and 2) because you won't see a need to complain about it. :)

Using adblockers is not theft, it's not leeching off the industry. Advertisements are still intrusive and privacy invading because the companies collect data from users to recommend anything based on the records they have. Don't fall for this ideology that companies say and attempt to let gullible people believe it, it's all FUD.

I remember the internet in the mid 2000's before adblocking was a thing ads were absolutely nasty.

Opening new windows blasting loud audio on purpose, having full Flash code embed in the middle of random stuff in the background that was easy to accidentally click, link phishing that tried to get you to download malicious files for things such as hijacking cookies like y'know, the actual reason people used to freak out over cookies in the first place, installing unwanted internet explorer toolbars and extensions replacing links with copycat scams, all that good stuff.

You complaining about this site in particular over thousands of much worse examples is adorable, there is no way you truly are 42 like your profile claims to be, because clearly you have seen nothing if you think GBAtemp is the worst offender regarding the amount of ads displayed to help pay the bills.

Sure, ads fucking suck but like, what can you do about it? Adblock all that shit and you're fine, if you chose to not do that it's definitely your problem.
I agree having to use an adblocker to make the internet useable is fucking lame, but like, it's unfortunate how ads are needed to get some money, why else would there be ads otherwise?

On mobile it's probably more complicated to avoid but still, hardly unusable compared to a lot of sites that have absolutely intrusive shit in comparison, like overlapping ads over ads with fake dismiss buttons kind of bad.
I remember having to load a page once where I turned Plane Mode ON mid page loading to not get everything hidden under a flood of ads, it really could be and will be that bad in some places.

What i am saying is, yes, I do agree that ads on GBAtemp and anywhere else really does suck, but it's a non-issue to most people capable of using their brain and use an ad blocker, or better yet support the site directly with donations, that is absolutely not forced but would help more than complaining and making a new account just to drop a nothingburger out of something that could be avoided easily.

I am not exaggerating when I say it used to be MUCH worse all over the internet just 20 years ago, but who am I to know better than having first hand experience of clogging the family computer trying to just play shitty flash games on a web browser because nothing could be blocked easily.

I doubt you also made accounts on other platforms just to complain about their ads, unless that's your thing and not just a gimmick then I won't judge I suppose.
