I have mixed feelings on Sonic Mania. I did find it fun, and I played it all the way through. I really liked the special stages, in particular. In general, Sega hired the right people for the job. Christian Whitehead (and the Retro Engine) and Tee Lopes were excellent choices for the project, and their inclusion gives the whole project an indie, grassroots quality to it.

Playing through remixes of existing levels made the game feel more like a rehash, which took away from the original Zones. I wouldn't call it a direct sequel to the Genesis games, but the name "Sonic Mania" doesn't imply as much. I probably would have played any sequel that had the same team behind it because I feel it'd be worth supporting, but I concede that Sonic Mania didn't take 2D Sonic to new heights. It was a solid effort overall, and people saw it (at the time) as a step in the right direction for a franchise that has always struggled in 3D. (Strolling down memory lane with all the experiments- Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Colors- is a wild ride.)

I guess a lot of the hype is because of the team behind it. Plus, retro revivals will keep getting traction because us older fans like challenging games with 80's/90's design choices.

John Steinbeck's best book is Pastures of Heaven and George Orwell's best book is Keep the Aspidistra flying... I don't think there is a person on earth being with me on that one. I haven't read everything they ever wrote, but the most popular books I've read.

I also think Adolf Hitler produced better art than Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock, two painters I really dislike, I think they were more knowledgeble when it came to art and technique than the fürher, but the end result was not as good. Pollock had some abstract art earlier in his career that is good (that drip painting-style is the worst shit I've ever seen, apart from maybe most modern art, it's on par with a black square on a white square; no need for talent or effort), and Van Gogh has two paintings I think are okay (no mystery to me why he never sold a single painting in his life, that's real right?)

I do realize a painter just paints whatever they feel and what they want to communicate, and it's not intended for everyone, I can totally respect that, just as I respect anyone who do find those artists to be brilliant... It's just not for me. Monet is the best painter, maybe that's an unpopular opinion too?

I dislike the commonly used OLED pronunciation, so oh-led as a word. Going forwards, for the purposes of my rant Led=word, L.E.D= separate letters.

No one refers to L.E.Ds as "Leds", it's always L.E.D, just the three letters, but in a tv, suddenly it's "leds". It's not even consistent, when lcds were switching from ccfl backlights to L.E.D backlights, they were often refered to as L.E.D tvs, not "led" tvs.

It's not even consistent now. Here, pretty sure it's Currys (electronics retailer) that has an advert where they refer to an OLED tv as "oh-led", but a QLED tv, as Q-L.E.D. Fuck off, pick one, literally the same with the exception of the starting letter and you are pronouncing it two different ways.

My unpopular opinion....ad's are slowely killing all media and internet. Going to push people to eventually adopting a new type of internet (without ad's) and leads to a lot more piracy. (Piracy doesnt have ad's). I have already found myself pirating stuff i would of bought a couple years ago due to not being able to enjoy ad free.

Popular opinion across the board mate. Let the greedy corporations starve when people move to decentralized net.

I do believe this is an unpopular opinion, based on numbers I read somewhere.

I think JFK was shot and killed by Harvey Oswald... I used to believe otherwise, and it was during confirming my beliefs that I happened to see the Zapeuder-film in slowmotion that it's evident to see he was shot from behind (the cloud of blood spraying out from the exit wound makes it clear that he wasn't shot from the grassy knoll). It could still be by someone else, maybe someone else brought curtain rods to work that day.

The day I saw this I did feel really empty, because it's much more fun, interesting and exciting when it's not just what happened.

I do think a majority of people believe the CIA or some other government body was behind... They still could be, I'm not taking away your fun, he was shot from behind though, it's on film.

Probably AI
Hehe, the Zapruder-film was AI generated slop and only the Jews had the technology back then? I don't think that's an unpopular opinion, that's fact. 😄

Nobody on Reddit had any answers either.

I used to think there was a shooter on the grassy knoll, and while looking at it saw a slowmo-version of the Zapruder-film, this was years before AI could generate videos, it might have been before AI could beat GO-players.

It is much more fun to believe in a conspiracy though, so I kind of get why people don't want to look at reality... But I can't do it.

Interesting never thought of it this way. About usage like CIA vs NASA
Initialism is using the letters like LED, and acronym is using as word like OLED

Guess
Didn't want to confuse L.E.D. with led like led here. Old is common, led is common, and OLED blends both. QL has nothing, no words start like that, and it's harsh start to flow lacking a link. There's quinoa, kuala, or quality which use UU to bridge. Even if QULED it'd probably be chooped into QUAL - ED instead.

Rant
English is just fucked though. Say ATM machine ignoring M means machine, your hyrbid mixes both standard uses, then stfu you'll skip both decoding into shut the fuck up, and inverse of that is RADAR, SCUBA, and MODEM aren't known as acronyms.

The powerwall should have been reached with the MOS 6502. If there are parallell universes there is one where that happened... that's the paradise they jammer on about in scriptures. It's where you go when you die in one of the crappy multiverses that got it all wrong. :D
