my move has been to make another user, and login to that user until im sure everything is working
the folders/layout on your main profile shouldnt shift until you're ready to log back into it,
so just make sure the USB setup is back the way it was before you do
ok that makes perfect sense. this is going to sound stupid but i'm always hesitant to make a new user because i'm afraid of somehow getting locked out of my main one lol. the wii u was my last nintendo console and since launch it's spent good chunks of its life in storage. i do have a nintendo account, which i've updated/tested on their site, but i have NO idea what my wii u's NNID pw is. i assume i can recover it through email, i just never felt like doing it haha

Is there a way to boot straight into Wii U Homebrew menu without a gamepad connected?
Am I missing a setting?

Yes, you're missing the fact that Aroma has no Homebrew Menu/Launcher, Homebrew apps just show up on the Wii U Menu. You also don't need a GamePad to just open the Wii U Menu.

Yes that only requires a wii remote
So, when my gamepad is dead, and i try to boot straight into vWii homebrew menu, it just hangs. Not frozen (I can still home button and close program), but it doesn't load vWii homebrew menu. Am I doing something wrong?

You could always switch to a PNID using this and not worry about it. Plus, you get online! Even if Juxtaposition isn't as well moderated as Miiverse...

i am having an issue with WiiVCLaunch (@Lynx64) that seems related to the latest Aroma update:

basically, my Wii VC injects with gamepad support are set to launch at 480p in 4:3, but they will only do so if the TV is on. if the TV is off, they ignore WiiVCLaunch settings and boot in widescreen on the gamepad (which is not ideal for certain games).

i dont think im misremembering when i say this was not occurring a few months ago, because i recall WiiVCLaunch being an easy solution for playing Enlcave (a wii game without 16:9) on the gamepad without a stretched image (if the tv has to be on as well, it kind of diminishes its usefulness in regards to gamepad supporting injects).
