I reckon I'll enjoy MK World, albeit not as much as MK8D as it looks a bit too automated and simplified. Who knew MK8 would be the last traditional Mario Kart.

MK World looks like MK Tour on consoles.
I agree on presentation levels, but I think there will be another traditional Mario Kart. They're trying something new is all. Adding a new thing to draw people in. A near full scale recreation of the world in mario style? Sounds like something that open world players would enjoy. Its one of the few reasons I play MSFSX. Probably trying to double down on the audience that enjoyed BOTW and TOTK.

Maybe at launch the game could have classic mode without the new stuff? Or maybe in a future update. I Hope that if they do this they don't lock it behind a paywall...

I'm a bit disappointed there's nothing about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2 as I'd love an edition with EVERYTHING on the cart. Maybe they'll release it later.

Mario Kart World survival mode eliminates 4 players per section until the final section
That does sound fun, but I'm so used to drifting in MK7/MK8 and I know it will be different in MKW. I'll give MKW a chance before discarding it.

I've ordered MK8D + Complete w/ DLC on cart so not going to play MKW in the near future (the version included in the bundle is a download code than a cart).

Out of curiosity what do you think about MKW one year later?

It has sold 15.5 million copies, and a higher percentage of S2 owners own it than SW1 owners own MK8D, in spite of it being a port of the Wii U version.

The Nintendo world has spoken. Great, award-winning game, and not a worthless reskin of MK8D, which was a reskin (at best) of the Wii U version. Thank Dog Nintendo moved on a created a great new game that the world loves even if people who rarely play games but have plenty of time to comment constantly don't like it.
