I got my laminated IPS kit for my Game Boy Pocket yesterday. I installed it, and it looks great. I also removed the audio amp and changed the caps on the Pocket with some tantalums. I thought the audio cap was bad because the audio was extremely low, but it turns out I didn't solder one of the connections on the amp. When the new speaker comes in, I'll remove the Kapton tape from the front. If it weren't a clear shell, I would have just left it. It was just to hold down the wire, so I might just use some clear tape.
My FNIRSI DWS-200 soldering iron came today. It works great. It's so much easier to change bits when I need to. Please ignore the dirty area where it is. It's my spray booth where I airbrush, I use it like a fume extractor. I've been trying to find a metallic one that's bigger than the plastic one I currently have, mainly because a metal one is a lot easier to clean.
