After a bit of digging, I found that Flight Mode works independently from enabling/disabling WiFi or even Bluetooth, and that it results in less nagging and no background scanning -- which apparently eliminates a lot of lag while playing Borderlands 2 offline, and potentially reduces battery usage.

So, is there any point not keeping it on, other than to use ad hoc multiplayer? The days of near are far, so I don't see why flight mode wouldn't be always active.

Besides, I always disable WiFi/BT when I'm not using it on my devices, precisely because I don't want advertising beacons to track me in malls or other public places! (Though I'd imagine the scanning only happens in games with ad hoc...?)

Yeah, I also keep it on all the time. Not sure how different it would be from manually disabling Wi-Fi & Bluetooth but why would they put it there if it wasn't different...

It is stated on the internet that some games disable network features by default in order to improve performance but that probably doesn't have anything to do with Flight Mode.

Overall, I think it would definitely save more battery than not keeping it on.
