Thanks, happy new year to you too.

PC-98 Policenauts is mostly voiced and would require some tremendous work to be able to display subtitles.

I have neither the skills nor the motivation to work on that one, sorry.

There is a good chance you ahead know this, but Policenauts on pc98 does have a Japanese text mode. It becomes available after finishing the audio version of the game. A kind of “new game plus” I guess.

The problem is that you cannot have the audio and text simultaneously.

Any chance you could take a look at patching it to allow audio and japanese text simultaneously?

cheers

I don't have the skills to do this kind of hack, but I can try to ask around.
Do you have a savegame with the text mode enabled by any chance?

Hi,

I just suffered a hard drive failure and lost basically everything I had done after chapter 1. So it will take a bit longer than expected. I just need to regain motivation to start again, but basically the ETA has been moved to 2026.

Check your HDD SMART status once in a while, people. Don't be as dumb as I am ^^
This may not be terminal. You can use a particular device to access the drive, possibly, and retrieve the files (put the drive in the freezer for a day, then hook it up). In the future tho, I recommend backing up important stuff online, or on a flash drive, or even a DVD. Never rely on a hard disk for important info (or an SSD).

No, the great PC-98 large game that has a really big script. There are still a lot of technical issues to sort out, so you'll have to be patient unfortunately. But I'm really excited about this one !

BTW, Eve Burst Error took a giant leap a couple days ago. ikun35 found out how to properly extract the script from the Windows version instead of having to rely on asenheim. We're really close to a 1:1 script port ; the edited/partially retranslated version will have to wait, though. ETA isn't changed, but the project is less intimidating :)

EVE heartbeat: the full Kojiroh route has been reinserted. I'll do the missing translations/editing/bugfixing now. It'll probably take something like a couple months to be completely sorted out. I'll probably return to Dante before doing the Marina route, we'll see.

EVE heartbeat: the full game is now playable and completable in English, save for the H-scenes. There still is a lot of work to do: translate the missing scenes from scratch, remove the last of the made-up crap that still lurks inside the script, fix some alignement issues and a few small bugs, and most of all playtest everything. A private beta will be sent to testers next month, and full release will probably be around this summer if all goes well.

I have a problem in Rance IV with the v1.2 when playing on emulator (either Neko Project II 9801 or 9821 or anex86) that freezes the game on chapter 4, at the "Leave Rick at the diner and try to bump into Bell again. You can do this by constantly entering and exiting the camp screen while in town." when following this guide: https://alicesoft.miraheze.org/wiki/Rance_IV:Walkthrough
I tried tweaking some parameters like the memory or the processor, to no avail. Am I the only one?

Which variant of np21 are you using? If using the fmgen variant, try using np21nt. Otherwise, try with np21win. If the issue is still here, please send me your save file by dm so I can investigate when I have a bit of time in my hands.

Hey @BabaJeanmel , how's it going? I wanted to recommend two titles I stumbled upon by chance from Himeya Soft: Nana Eiyuu Monagatari 1 & 2. They're tactical RPGs with beautiful old-school anime art. The text doesn't seem overwhelming at all. Give them a try sometime, maybe you'll like them too, for future projects. 😊

Hi, things are going well thanks. My PC-98 projects progress way slower than before, but I still manage to work a bit on them now and then.

I've already played the Nana Eiyuu Monogatari series but they're a bit too easy for my tastes. I prefer Metajo or the Last Guardian series (but honestly, I don't think I'll ever translate them either ^^)

If anyone wants to testplay, feel free to send me a DM.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be able to access the Internet regularly and keep in touch over the 2026. Therefore, I will not be able to participate in the testing of EVE :( I don't want to take on a task if I'm not sure I can handle it and not disappoint other people's expectations.
Anyway, congratulations on your progress in translating this game!

Is there any group working on Tokyo Twilight Busters? I know it does have a NDS remake and all. Maybe that version is easier to translate

I think its funny that it seems like a very interesting game but i never hear any news about a translation...
