Hi everyone,
I'm working on this Game Boy Micro. Someone else did a terrible job removing the old charging port and replacing it with a USB c port. That person basically removed all traces/via's.
Obviously it did not charge in this state:
So i worked on it to replace the port and fix broken traces and at least get the +5v and ground working. Leaving the datalines.
My result:
A lot cleaner and +5v and ground are connected now.
But it is still not charging when I have the battery and charger connected.
The GBM works great with a charged battery, so the device itself is working. It's just the charging circuit somewhere.
Looking at this post (https://gbatemp.net/threads/game-bo...-think-its-the-diode-looking-for-help.644385/) I measured voltage with a battery and charger plugged in.
My results:
Around Q3 (transistor?) I have an "output" of 0.02v (point 7) on inputs both 4.98v (point 8 and 9). And that is different from the pictures in the other post.
So maybe Q3 is faulty? Or mij "input" on point 9 is faulty so maybe resistor R16 (connecting 8 and 9) is faulty?
Too bad I don't have a second GBM to compare to.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with this device?
Do I need the measure something else?
Is there maybe another problem with the connection port that I'm not aware of?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks!
