Pokemon Home gets v4.0.0 update ahead of Pokemon Champions release, Legends Z-A now supported

After a long wait, Pokemon caught in the recent Legends: Z-A game on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 can be safely stowed away in your Pokemon Home library. This support comes a week ahead of the release of Pokemon Champions, the series' upcoming free to start battle simulator, with many of the new Mega Evolutions being usable in the title out of the gate. Outside of adding support for both Legends Z-A and Champions, a new language in Latin American Spanish was also introduced in v4.0.0.

If you plan to play Pokemon Champions and are looking for something to do in the meantime, catching a Chesnaught, Delphox, or Greninja could be a good idea. Depositing each of these into Champions on its release, as well as a certain mythical Pokemon, will reward you with their Mega Stones.

finally my shiny Budew, shiny Gyarados and uh...the shiny Trubbish (i still love it) i suppose.... Are in Home!

still no fire red leaf green support
Yeah this one sucks, especially with a certain pokemon that Rayqauza hates, it can be a menace in singles.

Oh, good. that means I should be able to give the extras I've accrued in z-a to the wife. Tons of stuff :)
I feel that, I've got eight boxes of "spare" shiny Pokemon when I was going for a complete shiny Pokedex in the game. One day I'll go back to finish that lol.

I just wish I could (re)try catching some of the in-game legendaries again. Somehow I managed a 6IV Darkrai catch in this game, but of a careful nature. Understandably lucky, but was hoping to reprise my clown prince in the game.

6IV catch is a 31^6 chance, so about 1 chance in a billion. What the fuck.

That's what the math is telling me.

Granted, for some reason WRT Darkrai, I've been unnaturally lucky. Case in point...

Not knowing that GF/Nintendo canceled ALL legendary distributions on Gen4 at the time, I broke down and bought one of the few cheater devices for the DS that had codes to trigger said distribution event(s) on my cart. Starting with Darkrai, prepare to save scum because of course such things can go sideways, and... first. encounter. shiny! And after catching it, it was a Docile nature. The antithesis of the ultra-goth broodlord that the lore would suggest, and I had them on my cart. Ever since then I just had really solid luck of strong darkrais with great stats and nature combinations.

Legends have three guaranteed perfect IVs in modern games, so not quite as low odds. Back in Gen 6 I'd reset for good IV legends and get them before too long.

Yeah, that started being a thing as of Gen 6. Granted IIRC it also started the "you must catch it to continue the plot" mechanic too.

Didn't Gen 5 start the "catch to continue" mechanic with Zekrom and Reshiram? Fairly sure N holds you there if you beat it or run from it lol

N in gen 5 ticks me off so damn much. Like the one time i happened upon a wild encounter with good stats, the jerk renames it so it belongs to him instead. Fuck that guy.

Granted, aside from that, Drayden genuinely infuriated me enough to invent a new war crime in what i'd do to hurt his unrepentant ass. Even when i finally did beat him for the badge he had the attitude to just deflate the experience and trouble it took.

I've heard IVs are no longer a thing in Champions? Can anyone confirm?

Edit: yep they're gone. I can definitely see that being a divisive change.
If nothing else, it means the neckbeards will hate it because they spent 19000 hours grinding and breeding for nothing.

I gave up on Z-A and my living dex an hour into the DLC. I guess I was burnt out, but managing a living dex with limited PC space was already hard enough without the DLC and it was quite infuriating that Home support was yet again so late.

I fear I am part of the group that the Pokémon Company takes advantage of, all the money and none of the features. Though Pokopia saved me from buying FireRed/LeafGreen, even if it is way too much money for a digital only release 😔 that game deserves to be physical.

I mean, it's true but it's kind of mean to say it. Especially as if this isn't a forum for neckbeards, what is? :P

I think the reason most will dislike it is that it removes a layer of complexity at the highest level. It took time, sure, and it's one heck of a barrier to accessibility removed, but for the speed stat in particular it will have an impact. It's not uncommon to use the IVs to manipulate speed in Trick Room teams to either have as little speed as possible, or even have one or two above that to account for speed ties outside of Trick Room.

I kind of just wish they'd have put them on sliders the same way they've done with EVs, but it is what it is.
