The console powers on (blue LED lights up) but both screens remain black and the system never boots. No sound is emitted at any point during the boot process.

Troubleshooting steps already attempted:
  • Disconnected the Wi-Fi board cable and attempted to boot — no change
  • Disconnected the camera cable and attempted to boot — no change
  • Disconnected the cartridge reader cable and attempted to boot — no change
  • Attempted to boot into Safe Mode (L + R + D-Pad Up + A) — no response
  • Attempted to trigger the shutdown menu (powered on, waited 30 seconds, pressed Power) — no response; console only powers off after holding the Power button for 15 seconds

The console is unmodified (stock firmware). Based on the symptoms and troubleshooting results, the suspected cause is either a corrupted/failed NAND chip or a cold solder joint on the NAND BGA.

Am I missing something?

Extra: Read about trying to get a flashcard that boots into ntrboot and then try power the N3DS with Start + Select + X to boot right into the flashcard, this sould skip booting into the bad NAND and boot right into SafeB9SInstaller and then I can put the CFW into it. Could that work?

Have you seen https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Black_screen_unbrick already?

If you've been messing with the internals then it's entirely possible something else has gotten unplugged or otherwise busted somewhere in the process.

ntrboot starts whatever boot.firm is on your SD card - so yes, you can run the boot9strap installer, but you can also boot godmode9 or 3ds_hw_test or whatever else is available in .firm format. If there's something wrong with your NAND, then trying to install boot9strap is not going to help.

If your SD card slot is busted, then it is also apparently possible to flash godmode9 to a flashcart along with ntrboot, but that doesn't come up very often and I'm not sure about the details.

Hey, thanks for your reply! About a few topics:

1 - About the wiki: Yeah! I'm following every possible step to make sure I'm not missing anything. Until now, no fixes or new erros:

2 - About fixing myself: Not a noob but not a pro. This is not my first time repairing a 3DS. Saying that, I triple (yes) checked that. Same error everytime. Last owner said that it was showing that before the top screen got broken (just got it to replace the screen)

3- About the flashcard: The flashcart attempt to restore the NAND is based on this video. Was wondering if making a emuNAND CFW I can "bypass" the sysNAND, or even maybe reinstalling the firmware/NAND.

4 - About the NAND: This dosent seems like a hardware issue. I did a visual inspection on the board and anything wreid/bent/oxidated showed up.

So yeah, just oredered a R4 and wish me luck.

That video is old and the instructions are unclear, which is exemplary of why following Youtube videos is generally discouraged. (At least it's short.)

I suspect in this case the boot.firm on the SD card is Luma.

As I said, you certainly have the option of running Godmode9. I guess you could boot an emuNAND that way? But you'd have to use ntrboot to start up the unit every time. I've never heard of anyone doing that.

I should add that some people have gotten an unresponsive 3DS to perk up by taking the battery out, but if that was a reliable option, someone probably would have put it in the wiki.
