Yoshi and the Mysterious Book gets new trailer along with release date

Originally marked for a Spring 2026 release date, the upcoming Switch 2 title Yoshi and the Mysterious Book today received a new trailer, locking it in for a May 21st release date. The trailer takes a look at the a creature in the game, showing its abilities and how Yoshi can use it to navigate the environment. Each creature found can be named by the player, with name suggestions also available for those less creative.

I loved Yoshi Story and played a bit of Wooly and Crafted World, but this will be another "on sale" game for me. It's definitely more of a game focused on letting kids mess around rather than strict platforming based on the trailer, but time will tell.

Wow, this is even worse than I imagined, they even turned the video comments off cause they made it for kids, I love the art and just everything else about the game but the gameplay, are we serious? This sucks, this is worse than crafted world and yoshi’s island DS

Looks like it will have a lot of mechanics to play with, if each thingy in the book allows you to do more stuff. I'm obv gonna play it because Yoshi, am remaining optimistic it will be at least as fun as a typical Yoshi game, whether or not (probably not) it reaches the heights of the best in the series.

It seems Nintendo are running out of good ideas for Yoshi games and this one doesn’t look at all appealing. You would of thought by now Nintendo would of moved onto Yoshi 3D Sandbox titles as a different approach similar to what they did with Donkey Kong Bananza

I’ve looked into my crystal ball and Nintendolife are saying it’s a 7/10 in the review

I actually really liked Yoshi's Island DS as it's pretty similar gameplay and looks wise to the SNES Yoshi's Island (still the best one by far). I thought Woolly and Crafted World were alright but way too piss easy. I didn't like Yoshi's New Island on 3DS at all. The look was fairly good but the gameplay and the way Yoshi moves in that game.... No.

Gameplay looks way too slow I can't believe I'll skip over another Switch 2 game. On the other hand, Switch 2 is a great Switch Pro console.

It looks real nice and cozy, I wonder if Good Feel are developing this. They did Wario Land Shake Somethingorwhatever, Yoshi's Wooley World (wheres the Switch port?) and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Simple games but look great with inventive gameplay.

If you don't think there is something wrong with Yoshi's story then I don't think you can criticize this game
Have you played Yoshi's Story?
Completely though?

I don't mean "From end to finish", but actually ALL STAGES/CHAPTERS.

Yes, I really liked the game as a kid

Now I really struggle to go back to it, but I liked doing all the different stages and unlocking white and black yoshi

But I can accept it's fundamentally a flawed game

i dont wanna spread hate or anything but this game looks boring AF, the trailer last 3:30 minutes and fail to showcase anything at least interesting. What happen with the creativity with Woolly world?, Crafted world was also boring AF and this definitely looks to be the same. Its incredible the downfall of yoshi games. I hope the rumored port of woolly world becomes true
